N/A v6 galant rear wheel bearing fitting

    hi guys,
can anyone give me some advice on fitting a new rear wheel bearing? I know they come as a complete hub unit, but i have never fitted one to a galant
i just want to know if its an easy job and if anyone knows any tips & tricks. my galant is the non vr4 version so no drive shafts to mess about with.
if anyone is looking for a rear wheel bearing, try German, swedish & french motor factors as they give me the best price £48.00 all in, which is half the price that other places quoted me.
i await for replies from all you galant guru's
    many thanks!

You may not be comparing apples with apples guys. Dont the V6's have bolt on complete rear hubs (for which i'd expect to pay about a ton)? If so you may just get the actual bearings for half the money, requiring you to press the old ones out of the hub. Thats a lot harder and more time consuming than just bolting one on and one off.

On the other hand if its a complete hub its a bobby bargain!

    Cheers,

    Ben.

I'd be guessing what Ben is too. The price seems right for a bearing, rather than a hub.

Looking at the ebay ad, it is exactly as Ben and Nick say. You will have to use your existing hub, getting it first pressed out of the existing bearing, and then pressed into the new bearing. If you have a press, it will be a doddle. But if not, you'll need to get someone to do it for you.

this is the bolt-on solution rather the the "pressing something out and in" solution...

just got back with my new bearing, and yes you guys are right. The £48.00 bearing will need pressing on to the hub. which for me is not too much of a problem as my friend has all the tools to do it. so if you dont have the means available to press bearing them i would say the whole complete hub unit would be better as its just a bolt on job.
