From what I've been reading up, front is OK with motor in, rear is a pain in the arse but can be done...

Hmmm Ok ill probably be looking at doing it myself.. do you know if you can remove the turbo section leaving the actual exhaust housing still in tack? I know you can with some turbos but again it depends on the turbo. I used to have a T25/28 and that was pretty basic to remove without removing the exhaust..

Yep, you can undo the vband clamp and remove the CHRA, once you have disconnected water supply, oil feed and drain and all the intake pipe work.

The back one is a bit fiddly, I would (and did do) remove the radiator (5mins) and disconnect front and rear roll stops. This will allow you to get some movement on the engine and pull it forward. You wont get that much because of the transfer case... Better than nothing though.

Lol. i never thought of removing the mounts when i removed my rear turbo (7g td025) that would have made all the differance
i removed the CHRA when i done my conversion then tackled the turbine housing seperate. if you doing this soon id start spraying everything with crc now. And spend a good amount of money on the circ clip pliers you use.. cheap tool dont work in this area.

edit: hold on.. isnt it v-band? Think mine were.

Yep they are V bands. I had a look at removing the one on my front turbo but the bolt was in such a place that I couldn't do it without dropping the turbo out - keep that in mind.

It's been plastic welded already and cracked again, I'd rather replace the whole thing to avoid any more problems. So Carsten, how much for the bare fuel tank sent to Queensland?
