    Newbie from Bristol

    Evening all!
    Just thought I'd say hello.

I've wanted a Legnum for a very long time now and I'm finally in the position to buy one. I'm also fed up with driving around in a 'stanced' 2 door BMW that is gradually falling apart.

Are there many Bristol based members on here? I've seen a couple of VR4's driving around North Bristol recently which finally got me looking for one myself.

    Thanks guys!

I've not seen anything so far Wobble. I'm looking for a manual which doesn't seem to help me too much. I need something a little more practical than my current car so I may settle for an auto if I can't find a decent manual car.

I wanted a manual as i really wasn't keen on ever owning an auto......that was until i actually had a go in an auto VR4! The auto box is a great bit of kit and i freaking love it.

Most of the things I've read have been similar to what you say actually. I'm still unsure myself, there also seems to be much more to go wrong with the auto boxes too?

I'll have a read about them I think and see if it changes my mind, at least then I'll have more cars to see if I feel differently.

If you get an auto that has had its torque converter seal done in the past couple of years & has been well serviced you should be ok.

Even if the T/C seal does go which is the most likely think to go wrong with the auto box. Its not going to cost you much more than a new clutch on a manual.

if the auto box has been serviced correctly then there should be no issues unless your unlucky,

try an auto before you right it off ,wise words when i posted that i have to have a manual all them years ago

Certainly don't feel as though you'll be "settling" for an auto! They're well suited to the car

If you've not found anything in the next week or so, and you want to have a look around a Legnum, I'll happily come and meet with you!

Thanks very much for the info, I'll bare the T/C seal in mind too.

Confused, thank you very much for your offer. I doubt I'll go for anything within the next couple of weeks unless it's something special as I still need to sell my current car. I can see myself leaving it in my garage to rot if I don't sell it before buying something elsw.

Meeting up some time would be awesome if it's no trouble.

I'll give you a shout when I'm back in the Bristol area, won't be until after next weekend now. Providing you've got adequate insurance, you can have a spin in mine and see what the auto is like for yourself, and I'll show you how to drive it It'll be no trouble at all

Sounds good to me mate .
Although I won't be driving as I don't have DOC on my policy. I'd love to have a nose around the car though and see what these auto's are like in comparison to a normal autobox.

One of the other reasons you'll hear more stories about autoboxes failing, is quite simply that there a so many more of them - probably a ratio of something like 10 autos for every manual!

I'll make sure I give you a fair and honest showing of the autobox, even if you don't drive it yourself, and of course feel free to look over anything and everything about the car too when we meet

After all of your comments about the autos I've stopped ignoring them and found a couple of very nice ones.
I may go and see one on Monday if I can blag a lift from my brother from here to Southampton. Only thing putting me off is lack of history, some was lost when it was imported apparently although the guy seems genuine.

You're very kind Confused, I'm looking forward to meeting you and seeing the car! Mind if I pm you some time this evening?
