As title, changed all leads, plugs, cap roter arm but still missing & smelling of fuel.
Car is a 1987 & does have a basic ecu.
Any one with ideas please?

I assume it's an injection version of the v8
You say an ecu do you mean electronic ignition module ?

have you worked out which cylinder is missing on by pulling the leads one at a time until it stops getting worse , thus meaning that it is the one you looking for ?
If there is the smell of fuel it could be a leak from the injector or it could be that the spark is not igniting the mixture
which electronic ignition module is it and is it just a thingy in the dizzy under the rotor arm
does it still use the standrd twin coil set up ?
Did you change that yet ?
Also you need to make sure all the leads going to ground are in good condition as this can be a cause of a week spark
Have you pulled the coil center lead out and placed it on top of the engine so that it is less than 1cm away (don't hold it or you will get a shock ) and seen how strong the spark is on crank ?
On the V8's I have owned it has also been down to head gasket failure when a misfire occurs if still using the tin gaskets
