    Voop, voooop, voooop!

I already discussed this a few of the guys at Karl's a few weeks ago but I've forgotten what the source of the problem is.

Driving along I get a voooop, voooop, voooop noise, disappears turning left, stays when turning right, any ideas of the cause,

    Captain vaige strikes again!

Its Deffo some kinda bearing thing, although I fairly recently put two new wheel bearings on the car so I hope it's not that. The voop, voop, voop noise gets faster the quicker you go.

From memory it was something to do with inner drive shaft or something to do with steering?

You didn't say it's front or rear vehicle noise?
    Ex: Galant VR4

    Now: Lancer Evolution 8 FQ-300

It's from the front, I'm sure of it.

Noise whilst turning may indicate also:
    - brake caliper pistons seized or pads wrong bedded
    - outer joints
    - wheel bearing
    - lower curved arm

    Good luck with search

I've seen tyres wear in a strange way that has caused strange noises too.

Wouldn't Barry notice that tracking is totally f***d?
But if tyres are worn to one side that may make noise and indicate suspension play.

Have you managed to resolve this issue? If so, how did you fix it? Thanks

Since changing my tyres and retracting the noise has gone.

Tracking in the UK (at least in that context) refers to wheel alignment, on the VR4 it is the toe setting.

Great, will have mine checked. Its worth noting that on my right wheel, (where i think the noise is coming from) the tread seems to feather up if you run your hand over it. Not sure if that has any relevance

Quick check would be to swap the wheels round....
