Taking my v6 in for a service this wkend......

    Hiya Guys,

Bit of a newbie type question this !

I've had my v6 sport for 3wks now and am rly happy with it, got it booked in to hummingbird (official mitsi dealer) for a 'value' service this wkend

It hasn't been serviced in 18k miles but had cambelt done 3months ago, the service includes oil change and filter but not necessarily new plugs etc...
is there anything I should specifically ask them to do ? I just want to give the car a bit of love as might be taking it on a long journey soon.

My headlight needs adjusting too, I tried tweaking the screws but it didn't seem to change the alignment and a motor starting whirring away (as if it was trying to auto adjust) so I will get them
to have a look, do most people stick with the standard bulbs ? the headlights seem a bit dim, maybe this is just a side effect of the alignment ?

Plugs last a long time, so it depends on how long it has been since the last change.

Headlight misalignment can be a badly seated bulb, but if not there is a way to realign self levelling lamps. You could probably find the procedure on this site with the right search.

upgrading the bulbs definately improves visibility. i like ultra power as a brand as they do a crisp white light but with a blue tint reflected in the back of the headlamp. admittedly they are not brilliant in the wet but a dry night does show a massive improvement. any upgrade would be better than a standard bulb though but dont go to halfords. they are extortionate compared to independant outlets and i used the ultra power brand to compare prices

    Cheers fellas,

The plugs are a couple of yrs old so I guess I'll just see what they say, the car is running well but I'm hoping after the service it'll be even better.

I found some good threads on here re:headlight adjustment, I tried tweaking the screws but the beam just didn't seem to budge, the bulb appears to be seated ok.

When I got my V6, I had the following done :

    1. New plugs.
    2. New oil (fully synthetic) & filter.
    3. New air filter.
    4. New fuel filter.
    5. New front discs & pads (pads had a few 000s of life left).
