Hi all,
just thought i would pass this on to you guys and girls. this is a possible fix not confirmed. it could be the mintex 1230 pad or it could be the grease. i don't know.
Try running a bead of copper grease down the edge of the pad that contacts the pad slide plate on the leading and trailing edge of the pad. i did this at the last pad change and i have no squeal at all.
Here is a little warning, do not get any copper grease on the pad friction material at all. be careful.
Pad Make:- Mintex 1230 (pad choice was a stop gap as i had a part warn set not ever used with my disk)
Anti squeal shim:- 1 full + 1 diagonal Half shim (full shim against pad the half shim on piston contact side, take note of direction arrow)
I applied small smear of copper grease on pad back and on shim to shim contact area.
Applying copper grease to edges of pad:-
i did it this way, but thinking about it now, it might not be the best way of doing it.
1. Back of the pad facing up with shims already fitted.
2. copper grease on finger and pull finger backward against the leading and trailing edges of the pad so you scrape the a small amount of grease (and i mean small amount) from your finger on to the edge of the pad, this puts a nice bead on the edge of the pads metal backing.
3. Slide pads into caliper carefully and put pins in.
a better way of doing it would be to smear a little bit of copper grease directly on to the pad slide plates on the caliper.
to be sure you don't get it on the friction material of the pad.
don't use lots of copper grease, just a little smear.
then fit the pads as normal.
if you have brembo brake squeal and you have the pad sliders in place, give it a try and report back to see if it makes a difference for you.
this costs nothing to do, only a bit of time. it could restore you sanity.
slider are held on the caliper with screws and are on the leading and trailing edges of the Pads.
hope this works for you.
