About the prices in the ebay link. I got mine from coordsport who also use the name partbox.
so is it about £120 for a set of front pads i didn't eally lok at what the prices were for fronts or backs
and the disks were about £500-£600 for 2 part disks.
is that about right.
Yes, that is about right. Coordsport did me a deal for my first set, so it may be worth ringing them if you decide to buy. I paid about 600 for front discs and pads but was told that it was a one time offer.
the pads that were on my car are PAGID and didnt squeal at all although they were part of the brembo package i bought so they were part worn. about 30% as it turns out but i replaced them anyway
the pads i had put on today were OMP and straight out the box they feel good with no squeal at all

just thought i would update this thread,
never had any squeel from any type of pad i have fitted to my brembos since i started greasing them up correctly.
i must have had 6 different types of pads in my brembos since my last update and non of them squeel with the correct greasing.
Hello mods, can one of you change the title of the thread to
"Tried and tested fix for brembo squeel"
thanks dave
I had break squeal until I took a wire brush to where the pad slides in and sits, both top and bottom, they were caked in brake dust. maybe coincidence but I greased everything as well. (Thought I'd better put this before the comment comes lol, everythig except the pad face)
grease them up and they don't squeel, it a cheap and effective fix.
i also suggest the important bit to grease that many people don't grease is the sliders at the side of the pads.
I've had pads that squeeled regardless. I tried greasing the slide plates and it didn't work. I think the solution will vary with different pads.
i would like to get hold of a set of pads that have always squeeled so i can try them on my car a see if i can shut them up.
i used to have a set of pads that squeeled all the time, they were really bad, but greased them up in the way i now know works and the they were instantly quite.
i would love to be challenged with a perminently squeeling set of front pads to see if i can shut them up, now that would be a test and a half for my greasing method.
i am will to test any set of pads.
Curly question here Dave, how so you attribute squeal to calipers/proper lubrication? While I appreciate what you're saying anything I owned that squealed was glazed rotors. Old, old school we drilled our pads and pressed in brass studs, old school, grind a groove and apply high temp silicone, it picked up dirt and stopped squealing. All me recent pads now come with grooves in them. Only had 1 car ever out of say 15 I've worked on that squealed.
They were omp group n spec. Richy rich had them from me and they squealed for him too. I'll ask him if he still has them.
the reason i went down this route of do a thread on getting brembos to stop squealing was because there were lots of threads from people saying it was impossible to fix the squeal and some of them were removing the brembo brakes and going back to standard setup because they were so tired of the squeal they could not take it any more, it was driving the nuts.
bearing in mind i have done this with the same pair of disks, i have a had pads recently with and without grooves in the them, i have tested them with only grease on the back of the pad and some have squealed, then removed tham again and greased them properly and they have been quite.
the way i saw it, the squeal you hear when you brake is a metal on metal vibration, so this lead me to go down the route of greasing all the possible contact areas between calliper and pad and this seems to work every time for me.
however you have to respect the fact that the disks pads combination have to be beaded in to setup the disk to pads contact area for optimal braking. this is a must.
that would be fab, nick. i would love to test this on a know squealing pads set.
i am going to have to replace me pads very soon anyway so i really should do pics and mark up all the places i grease up to stop my pads squealing.
i may have to replace my disks soon as well anyway, as i have noticed thye have some very fine cracking on the surface of the disk, they are solid surface verted disk.
the cracks go in the direction from centre of disk to outside rim, but the cracks are about 1/2 to 1 inch long. you can just about feel them if you run your finger nail over the disk surface.
the cracks have bee there for a about a month now and nothing seems to have gone wrong so far. i have just done a track day on them as well.
i have 2 spare sets of brembo disks so i can replace them at any time.
Yes! I get it, now. Bujeebers, never thought of that.
I feel so blonde....
As I have said several times before You need to bed them in properly. http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthr...720#post740720 Take a bit of chalk point first down a blackboard and the result is very little friction and a loud screech. Rub it down sideways and the result is lots of friction and a shoooosh noise. Take six sticks of chalk down a blackboard point first the result is not much friction and lots of screech.Rub them up and down the board until all the points are flat and the friction increases dramaticaly and there is not much,if any, screech. Rub them up and down so hard they get very very hot and fuse together and you get loads of friction and a shooosh. Squealing brakes is generaly because they are not bedded in and that means they are not working at anything like their maximum potential. This applies to all brakes not just EBC.

Thank you Mod for the title change.
i am not denying brake pads and disks need bedding in, this thread is designed for those who have done the recommended bedding in process and they still have squealing brakes. usually at very low speed when only just tickling the brake peddle round town, when parking, when doming to a very slow stop minimal peddle pressure.
The OMP group n pads only ever stopped squealing if you braked hard. And I mean hard. Passengers used to be scared every time I needed to slow down because I left it so late. I'd say a track day beds your pads in well, those OMP ones were squealing again less than 5 miles from the circuit.
Greasing and bedding in should work most of the time, but in my experience nothing is guaranteed with brembos.
Agree with above, if I drive at low speed in town my breaks will start to squeak, but I found the cure, go on 'private track' and break very heavy from 120 to near 0 and squeak is cured for few hundreds miles, this bring me to conclusion, may guys complaining about squeaky brakes not break hard enough on daily basis to wear them properly.
btw @Davezj you really like to take your chances do you? go on track with cracks in discs???

I've been using OMP pads for some time. No squeal. In my opinion, for the price, you can't beat them.
