    Fed up with filling cost

I'm really annoyed with filling cost of my leggy, especially as all parts for LPG conversion lie everywhere in the garage, living room even in the kitchen.
So today I decide to process LPG conversion (eventually at my own car), weather is fairly good and being made recently redundant, had plenty of time to play at.

Started with removal of most bits from engine bay:

All that work done just to fit six of this little fellas

on to intake plenum like that

    before

    and after

I manage to fit that bad boy aswell

and after all that it was the time to usual child care for rest of the afternoon
    any question/comments welcome

the installation looks great so far.
while the inlet manifold it off you can check the inlet valve sealing ability in the heads.
you can turn the crank by hand and close the inlet valves in turn and when the are closed you can pour a little bit of petrol on the back of the valves just enough to cause a puddle and make sure it does not drain away. if it does drain away without rotating the crank any further then there is some sort of valve seat damage and you will have to do something about it at some point. but at least you will know about it, and can plan for it.

Yes you right, there is plenty jobs 'around' to do while I'm there, the most annoying is cable insulation/conduit turning into dust even when you just look at it. Valves looks ok, too ok perhaps, have a look, i didn't clean that area

looks good, you know what i mean about checking the valve seats with petrol.
you might as well do it while everything is off.

as for the wiring covering, i have some that you clip over the wire. only problem is, it is RED. if you want to use it you are more than welcome to it. i have lots of different sizes and joining bits it cam in a kit.
it looks like the same stuff that was originally on, a corrigated plastic.

i was thinking maybe do an early ish saturday morning.

I know that method for checking valve seat condition, but I don't had any symptoms of bad valve seats on my car so I will pass that.
I got some cable conduit (in black :-), I was predict that going to happen with 13 years old conduit under extremely hot VR4 bonnet, what I didn't know is really PITA and time consuming to remove the old one and fit new one, sat is fine.

yes it is a pain, are you doing it all or just the crumbly bits.
when i started messing with my previous VR4, i just got the vacuum cleaner on and sucked all the bits up as i crumbled them in my hand and it got rid of all the bit that would have dropped down into the abyss that is the top of the engine and into some inaccessable areas.
i am sure the conduit you will fit will be a better quality than the stuff mitsi used when they originally covered the wiring. Plastics technology has moved on a lot since the car was new so hopefully it will last the lifetime of the car now. it will look so much better than it did with all the crumbling stuff.

ok i will see you saturday, i will drop you a PM about time.

Nooo I cant feel my fingers, to much bloody striping of that *^&^% old conduit, but I made some progress, both plenums back and half way soldering done (12 wires done another ~20 to go)

Another day of fight , this time fight was unfair for a car and he need to give up under pressure from Dave and my brain, we both managed to feed most of the wiring and car start after first turn of the key (surprise, surprise)

Was a great day, but most of the time we spend for chatting and drinking caffe (and thinking of course) than actually labouring, nevertheless it was a pleasure to be a host of that little party, Dave for coming and at the end of the day we made some progress, here is a few photos.

Was a good day and we did do some stuff not a lot but some.
I would like to point out the the wiring hanging over the wing in the back of the second picture behind the strut bace mount is old auto box wiring and is not still to be connected. This is just going to be wrapped up and used for future projects that require wiring to go through the bulkhead, which I though was a great idea from Adam. Why reinvent the the wheel use what you have already got.
I have to say the the whole day was topped off with food, and what a treat.
The best polish bacon, cheese, onion, garlic filling, and the omelette itself was so much more than flat scrambled eggs, it was light, thick, it had substance, and a bready eggy texture.
I think you get the idea I might have liked this,
Big thanks to Adams wife, sorry Adam I am really bad with names.
    But big thanks anyway.

Car is gassed up, all work seems good, only need to do 3D maps for LPG (currently running on 2d only), its just a funny feeling when your petrol gauge sit in one position even after some spiriting drive.

Cool. I'm now look at buying a leggy and gassing it. Been running my cars on LPG for years now. Used to work for a garage that did kits a well so confident with them.

What size tank did you get in there?

Thinking of using the omvl dream xxin kit. Which one did you use?

Are you going to install a valve saver kit?

Yes that is the filling point, here how its looks like in full glory

    lpg 014 (Custom).JPG

it's a detachable ends, just to avoid to drill a massive and ugly hole in wing/bumper.
