    Idle Hesitation

Just wondering if anyone has found that a VTA has caused a hesitation after months of having it installed?
My VR4 all of a sudden is hesitating when stopped at the lights or whatever, almost like it's going to stall.

I have the HKS SSQV installed...auto box...was working fine until now, nothing else changed besides cosmetics.

Take it apart and give it a clean.

Is it a genuine HKS one? The clone ones have a tendency to stick open.

Yea it's genuine, so possible that it's dirty and causing this issue?
Will try to clean it out tomorrow or the weekend, recommend anything to clean with?

Was also going to try putting the standard one back in to test as well tomorrow or the weekend.

Out of ideas...any help would be appreciated.

I have placed the standard BOV back, removed the MBC and piping, cleaned the Air Filter and then reset the ECU (what I believe is a ECU reset - disconnected battery for a couple hours as I cooked dinner, then put it back on, ran the car idle for 15 minutes and still got the issue)...also tried using injection cleaner before all this. Spark plugs are good, coil packs are good...

Symptoms are: Idling is roughly at 600revs, then there is a slight jolt.

Have you tried cleaning the idle control stepper motor? And checked the o-ring on the bakelight isle screw? Be very careful taking it out they can be very brittle!

I've been searching around the forum and have been reading about this idle stepper motor, also TPS.
These might be worth looking at in the weekend when I have time.

    What's the bakelight isle screw?

If you look at the top of the tb there is what looks like hole with a cross head screw sunk inside it, it's a manual idle set screw. But it's made of bakelight plastic which gets brittle with age and high temps. It has an o-ring in it and mine was badly perished.

had the same problem a while ago, change the steeper motor and bobs your uncle! try the screw at the top of the tb first, if idle keeps dropping id change the steeper, let me know if you need one as i have a spare here.

Well I decided to change the spark plugs with some colder ones anyway and to change the plenum gasket.
Started the car up and appears to be all sorted. Will find out today when I take the daughter swimming.
