Car Description
Car HistorySeptember 2000 Mitsubishi Galant VR4. Official UK-supplied Ralliart model which I have owned for about 8 years. Full service history. Car maintained regardless of cost, no expense spared on the mechanical side, but bits of the bodywork could do with some TLC
Usual VR-4 spec with INVECSII tiptronic box, electric windows, electric folding heated mirrors, etc.
130k miles, but engine rebuilt at 102k miles, including replacing the hydraulic lifters so it’s beautifully quiet
Full service done last month including ATF change (Amsoil, of course), new DS2500 pads, new Evo IX Brembo cross-drilled front discs, new Mitsubishi downpipes, new front and rear ARB links, filters, oil, etc., etc. Standard exhaust (apart from the decat pipe), standard air intake and airbox (those of you who know me will know why
)
Modifications.Engine is basically standard, but running slightly higher boost (approx. 1.1bar) with a manual boost controller and an HKS fuel cut defender.
Other tasty bits, in no particular order, are:
- Walbro 255 ltr/hr fuel pump
- Cusco hard pipe kit
- HKS SSQ dump valve
- Decatted, but original cat available
- Large ATF cooler
- Evo VII wheels (8”x17”) in Anthracite with Hankook 225/45 ZR17 94Y Ventus R-S2 extra-load tyres (approx 4mm tread, but they don’t start out with much more than that!)
- Spare set of Evo VIII Enkei wheels (8”x17”)
- Tein Super Wagon coil-over kit
- Evo VIII Brembo calipers front and rear with DS2500 pads
- Evo IX cross-drilled discs front, Evo VIII discs rear
- Braided brake lines
- Full Recaro interior (see pic)
- Electric tilt/slide sunroof
- Radio/CD player
- Bluetooth phone kit
- Evo VII GTA airbag steering wheel with gear change buttons (see pic) – believed to be the only one in the UK, perhaps in the world! This is just one of the best mods – love changing gear without taking a hand off the wheel
Other information.Points to note:
- It no longer has AYC – as the Evo VII GTA wheel doesn’t have all the sensors needed, the AYC no longer functions. All the bits are still there (clutch packs, AYC pump, etc.) if you wanted to change the wheel back for a normal one, but it would be quite a big job.
- Steering wheel not adjustable – new Evo VII steering column to match the wheel meant the adjuster couldn’t be fitted.
- It no longer has air conditioning – a/c radiator removed to improve air flow
- All electrics work, no issues at all
- Power: massive (clearly!) but I won’t bore you with the figures
Car drives beautifully, handles brilliantly, rattle-free. Been round the Ring a few times, also Donington, Croft, Knockhill and Crail, but that’s what they’re built for!
Can be viewed in Edinburgh or in the Scottish Borders south of Edinburgh. May even travel a bit further if you'll buy me lunch
I'm not advertising the car anywhere else at present. I'd prefer it to go to one of CVR4's enthusiasts but, equally, I'm not prepared to give it away
Any questions, drop me an email or give me a ring. Thanks for looking
Bad bits- Bonnet showing some rust at the front, could be repaired. Otherwise, bodywork in pretty good nick for an 11½ year old car, with the odd characterful scratch and dent. Just MOT'd at the beginning of May, taxed till the end of October.
- Front bumper is cracked and grille has a hole in it where a pheasant decided to play chicken. It lost
