    Front Brake pistons

Sometime this week I hope to get around to changing my front brake pads. Have read Keiran's article and all seems fairly straightforward (famous last words!!) except that I don't have a tool for 'winding in' the pistons. Question is do they have to be wound back in or can they just be pushed in and if so should they go quite easily???

when i changed mine used why wheel spanner (probably not advised) to push them in so i could get the new pads and pistons over the caliper....they didnt give me too much grief....

They should just push back in, (I usually use the handle of a mash hammer against the piston) however as far as my experience goes, unless you're driving the car regularly they easily get sticky. Just bought shiney new ones myself!

Big G clamp and a piece of wood pushing them back in evenly and gently.
