This is not a good day, Started to take the wheel off and the heavens opened. Decided to hide in the car but rain didn't stop so tightened the wheel back up. Started to turn the car round and noticed there was a huge puddle of fluid. Stopped the car opened the bonnet and see the transmission fluid is pouring out of a pipe.

Call the mechanic too see if there is a quick fix just to get it to him. We decide the best thing is to cut the PAS belt and drive to his house.

So I start driving and Im really struggling to get round the first corner and end up curbing it.

My partner is now driving it to the mechanics house and my arms bloody ache.

So all in all a good day I think

Thats not good. Hope you get it all sorted & at least you haven't got to get it too far I suppose. Steering without the PAS is a nightmare so know how you feel
Possibly the only VR4 that was driven by the current owner before being registered..... & it's a UK car

The part it needs is the main steel pipe that runs along next to the engine. some tw@ stuck a jubile clip on the tube on top of it so we are assuming that over the years of vibration against the jubile clip it made a hole in the pipe. Lovely, He's going to try to spot weld it but if that doesn't work then going to have to bend a new pipe.

Ah ok. He's good like that, will always give the option of a repair rather than order & fit new parts for ease. Old skool mechanic rather than parts fitter

This is great to hear. Well, I mean I'd rather you didn't have issues to fix, but at least you're in touch with someone who can help without being messed around or ripped off.

And yes, driving a PAS-equipped car when it fails, is a PITA. It happened to me a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, it was a 17t wagon that I had to manoeuvre around! Lots of grunting!!

Yea, he did me a really good deal. He noticed quite a few things with it that none of the other mechanics decided to mention, Like the brake disks were fooked and pads are really worn. Part of the camshaft covers are missing and the belt is loose, Rear bearings are shot. And some other things. Its back in the garage on Monday with a gearbox specialist and I should get it back on Wednesday so was going to give him a call when I get it back so he can fix the other bits through the warranty. But the bits that the warranty wont cover are going to have to wait.

Get in just in time then . Yep, I hate recommending people on the off chance that something could go wrong & would feel responsible but he is a genuine nice guy & really knows his stuff. Mitsi lost a good guy when they messed him about

Car is mostly fixed, safe and driveable without any funny noises!

Now I've just got to save up for new brake system, and cam belt bits. There is probably something else but nevermind:rolleyes:
