Hi guys.

My name is Gareth Roberts, I'm a mechanical engineer and I've joined because I'm selling my Mazda RX7 due to a house purchase, and the idea of getting a Legnum VR4 is one I'm struggling to get out of my head!

I reckon I'll have around £3000 once everything is said and done. I'd love one in Black or White, Manual, and with no rust and as low mileage as possible. Reckon it can be done with that budget?

yes that is a good budget for a leggie, you should get one for that price. as long as you are handy with a spanner you can keep servicing costs down. servicing cost can get out of hand if you don't do at least some of it yourself.

I do all my maintenance & modifying myself, having owned a few Jap turbo cars of a similar age it's a necessity!

you are definitely doing it the right way round, join the club, get the infomation you need, then buy a car.

That's what I usually do anyway, unless it's some run of the mill shopping type tat!

I need to sell the RX7 off first before I can afford to buy one, which is proving difficult in the current climate. That's also providing I get the minimum I want for it, and my house purchase doesn't cost me much more in fees than I've budgeted for.

I won't be buying one until I have the money so that's no danger, all the money in my savings is earmarked for the mortgage deposit!
