    Stuck in the rain

Hey guys and girls, last night I went degreaser crazy in the engine bay trying to clean it up and make it semi presentable...today I have gotten into the car and gone for a drive and the TCL light has been flashing, the ABS light has been on and so has the slippery when wet icon has flashed...thinking maybe the comp just needed a reset have disconnected the battery and am awaiting the results...has anyone had the same issue and if so what did you do to clear it? Looking like a tow back to work is in order for now....but any help with this would be greatly appreciated...as I sit in the car using my phone to write this

I get that error occasionally after the car has been sitting in the rain for the night - it's one of the ABS sensors playing up. Turning off the car and restarting it a couple of times clears the errors.

If it happened straight after degreasing the engine, I would be looking to make sure you didn't get anything around the ABS module

I degreased and hosed the whole engine bay...left the bonnet up to dry it off...or dry as much as possible...and thru the night it started pissing down...went to start the car up and was fine...idled fine...hopped into drive and as soon as I accelerated the check lights came on....is this an expensive fix or D.I.Y easily??

Sounds like normall problem with jet washing an engine bay, Wet connectors, electrical issue, dry it off and all should be ok.

    Bye for Now!

Update: ok had it hooked up the scanner hooked up to the computer and got fault code 16 on the abs signal....also checked battery voltage and it is reading 18volts so it is being over changed too...has anyone else had this is issue and did you need to replace alt or abs module? Any help is much appreciated...

Sounds like the voltage regulator in the alternator

Edit - I assume you mean 18v with the engine running?

Yup 18v with the car running...will check out the alternator when I get a chance to chuck it on a hoist and measure from underneath it. Is this expensive to replace or fix?

It can be a right pain in the arse to remove! Prob a couple hundy to repair depending on what's wrong.

How was the voltage measured? At the battery with a multimeter?
