Well, I'm forced to start manufacturing custom manifolds to accommodate my TD04L-19T's Kinugawa babies. It also requires elbows, downpipes 2.5 to 3", etc. Will provide details later on. I would guess it will be around 1K mark total, including downpipes p&p.

Yes. These Kinugawa's are designed to fit OEM TD04 Subaru flanges.

Good luck with supply at that cost. As they say cheap is not good, good is not cheap.

Sometimes you could be really surprise what £1000 can give you or made for you in other (eastern) countries, quality can also be the same or even better than we be happy with.

    s

It sounds like a massive amount of work with undefined costs, oil and water pipes, serviceability, reliability, spares etc.
What is the proven/expected power gain?

It is massive amount of work very very very time consuming. The most expensive are all the parts especially stainless steel parts custom made all the flanges and piping.
To be honest it doesn't make much difference what part of EU you get them, they can be slightly cheaper lets say from Poland but you still have to get them delivered to UK.
All the flanges have to be CNC cut so you need auto cad drawings and somebody who can manufacture small amount rather cheap.
Unless you buy 100s or 1000s prices become reasonable. Downpipes are easy, it's manifolds which are gonna take a lot of time to get them rigth and make it all fit properly cause as everyone know we are very limited with room.

Well, Swinks offer a set of manifolds + dump pipes for £720, and that was OK, SLX just add downpipes to it and say it will be in region of a grand and now ppl start doubt if its doable and if it is, it probably will be crap quality?? I don't get it

I don't say it is easy and quick to do, and yes £1000 seems not much for it but I hope SLX manage to do it and will happily share/sell 'bolt on' tdo4 kits to us. I really do wish him success with it. Remember, there are still guys with skills on this planet just not necessary connected/handy with forums/internet overall, its just a matter to knock to right door. remember when I used to work in brewery, they have contractor on site to do various pipework, all top quality food grade SS welded in argon (me think), what 'art' he did with a bit of pipe, welder, gas and grinder was simply amazing, lots of awkward angles and connections was just there. All his skills cost IIRC £60 ph. Shame I didn't get contact of him b4 they shut down brewery.

One more thing what stunned me few times is, ask some ordinary welding shop to weld to pieces of pipe together, how much they ask for it? let's say £20, now ask to weld the same two pieces of pipe used to 'tuning' your car in 'specialist' tuning/welding shop, somehow price jumps to £100.

How many sets did Swinks sell?
It is doable but requires huge amount of time and right tools for the job. Welding is the easiest part of the job and takes no time at all.
Everything else before welding is a lot harder and takes a lot of time. Turbos have to be located correctly in relation to the engine so you have to make up a 2 jigs for both manifolds which will allow you to locate both flanges head side and turbo side. We are still far away from end product but we already spend a lot of time on working things out and welding up 2 jigs.
Once jigs are ready you have to prepare all the bits of piping, cut them to correct lengths and angles to create 2 different manifolds and that's what is tricky and time consuming, not welding 2 pieces of pipe together, thats not a problem at all.
Send me all the bits cut correctly ready for welding and we can get it welded up together in no time.
I did have a think about it myself, but every time I think how much time I would have to spend on it, it puts me off.
    1000GBP is definitely cheap.

It's not just manifolds, down pipes and dumps. Oil lines and water lines will need changing, that's 16 connections. The oil filter might need relocating. The radiator fans might need altering. The inlet pipe work will need modifications. No part of it is simple! I thought £1000 would be tight if you could use the stock manifolds and down pipes.

Hi guys. Just realized that this is Swinks thread so wouldn't be the appropriate place to discuss my efforts here.
Will open new one at the stage when I have something in hands.
Here are some examples of custom made manifolds some of them really complicated. http://www.extreme-tuning.bg/bg/projects. Yes, that "us"
