    High pitched noise

I have a high pitched electrical noise. It happens when the engine is warm, after about half an hour driving and gets louder and louder. Initially, when it starts, i can get it to cancel by moving the indicator stalk or hittting the brakes. However, this does not work when the engine becomes warm.

I thought it might be the fuel pump but i had that changed last week. It seems to come from the front pasenger area although it sounds like it could be anywhere. I hope to use a sound level meter and see if i can narrow the area down.

The sound makes no difference if the speakers are on/off although i could disconnect the amplifier and see if that makes a difference.

    Any suggestions please?

Could be a air leak? Maybe also how about the fuel pressure regulator? Have you got an after market one or standard?

It's a standard one. I've just uprated the pump to a Sard one but noise was there before.

It doesn't sound like an air leak, definitely electrical noise, like a 5-10 khz test tone.

I will take a look at that. I did open the bonnet but could hear no noise there.

What would i need to change to test that out?

Are there any relays inside the car that could be checked?

There are afew relays inside the car, behind the center console.

Not sure how you would test but if you lifted the bonnet im sure ud hear it.

Could it be the heater box fax perhaps?
thats located in the passenger side behind the dashboard

The fan is something i could switch off and see.

I can also look behind the stereo for relays but thinking about any panels i need to remove to gain access to them.

Seems like i need to zero in to the sound source first.

Could it be a leaf in the vents? After 30 minutes maybe the air con changes the airflow somehow as the cabin gets warm and then the leaf starts vibrating?

That's an odd one! It will go on the inspection list!
