    brakes sticking when parked?

it may be something else but i had to force the car to move this morning. sticking handbrakes are something we are all familiar with, particularly in cold weather but the last couple of days have been mild and this came from the front. the brembos were inspected, cleaned and painted before fitting and they were in good condition but the front brakes dont make much sense anyway as they arent applied by the handbrake so why would they stick? the only thing i can think of is the fluid but im not sure how the braking system works in any detail. i believe they are the opposite to a truck which needs air to separate the pads from discs. no air = brakes locked on!
could it simply be due to being reversed parked on a slight hill with the nose higher so the car is held by the footbrake before the handbrake is applied? i park on the flat at home and didnt use the brakes to stop this morning so this afternoon could add some credibility to this idea

if there is water/moisture on the pad/rotor surface they rust together,

this is quite noticeable when you wash the car and park up and leave it,

the brakes do not fully release if the foot brake has just been held on and the car is parked up.

probably nothing to worry about then Carsten? it was very wet on my way in to work yesterday so the brakes would have been wet when parked and under the circumstances they wouldnt have fully released when i left the car

I have found that the pads with my brembos do not always slide well and have had to grind the edges of the pads to allow a smooth slide. I went through at least two sets of discs before I was sure this was the problem. It may be down to to thick a layer of paint on the pads or just bad size tolerances by the manufacturer

Mine do the same when it is wet.

But mine have started to squeal again so I will be greasing everything up to stop it which includes the edge of the pad sliders and the guide pins, as this can make all the difference.

    Bye for Now!

they still had to be forced yesterday even though i had driven for around 150 yards without using them when i parked outside and didnt use them to stop. no issues at work this time though after a night sat in the rain

they do squeal the first few times when i use them but then they are fine. im putting that down to water on the face of the pads/discs so not even slightly concerned about that

Before you drive off in the mornings du a visuale check on the disks to see if they are rusted, if they are then see if they are a bit sticky.
Just keep an eye on it and formulate the conclusion after a few days of driving.
You might struggle to drive off after a dry spell this time of year, but you will just have to monitor it.

Hah, I had this today. As I reversed off the drive, there was a 'pop' as the pads released from the disc. Not worried at all
