What's happened to the fun in Club vr4?

OK chaps this has just been an observation by myself!

This is in no way aimed at any member or person's on this club

In recent months the fun has disappeared from these walls & I feel it needs to be brought back

There's hardly any friendly banter any more

Members are just taking most if not all things seriously

Yes I know this is a car forum but guys what has happened to the fun that used to be on here??

OK we all get on with things & maybe the club has grown up who knows but the fun is missing

Has anyone got any ideas for the fun to return please?

If your not sure what I mean take a look back at some of the funny threads around the end of last year beginning of this one!

Finally if I'm talking drivel then I apologies but I personally don't think I am the only one who thinks this?

Imo it's because we don't see each other face to face now. Therefore characters of people are not discovered and enjoyed. I think online banter often evolves from an understanding of others that is developed from real world interaction.
A good rolling road meet could help. Early February anyone?

I agree with the first post. I've been in the club since 2003 and until 2 or 3 years ago the social side of the club was huge for me. I used to be at 5 big meetings a year plus a few mini meets as well. I have enjoyed ownership much more because of the friends I have made over the years. But recently the meets have been fewer, big and small, so I am not meeting people like I have in the past. 6 years ago if 50 people arrived for japfest not only would that be normal but I would have met most of them over the previous year. Now I only know forum names and I find it difficult to get to know characters so I can have a bit of banter.

So, who is up for a rolling road day? Early February so that finances are recovered for the 10th do!

I would love to make a change & abuse face to face rather than on here & really need to get my car remapped before 10th meet but I am over in yankeedoodle land on & off so I won't be able to commit to squat If one is happening at eurospec or at a roller near @foxdie I will try my hardest to make it though

We should have a misery to nutter chart around our Avatars which you can put the marker where you feel your sense of piss take level is?

Nick your idea for a rolling road is a cracking idea buddy.

    But where?

And you are right dude but what about the ones that know each other?

We don't have a laugh like we used to & TBH I miss that a lot!!

I haven't seen Eurospecs new place yet.?

I don't mind tbh. If it is Eurospec then I would have a bit of tuning done if numbers are low.

I think the only way you will get large numbers of vr4s together in the future is if there is a mass kull due to rust & you visit the local scrappy. Think the situation on here is only gonna get worse due to the dreaded rust.

That & the fact that you uses to own half of the cars on your own Steve you traitor

i have no problems in arranging another rr day at eurospec if its what the masses want, with or without a car i will be there ,as you say its the lack of meeting people face to face that i feel is the problem . i popped up to nutter johns last weekend to pick something up and stayed there 3 hours gas bagging to Nev and John ,just because i could.

I think the face to face meeting is a big thing,

There have been countless times I have had a witty comment (well i thought so ) ready to write, and I havent because the written word can more easily be taken the wrong way.
If you know the person then you can more easily judge what can and cant be said.

Id be up to meet, but will come as and when - Ive already pulled out a couple of times last minute due to work etc

I totally agree with nick, I've said this several times now, the big meets seem to have had a significant drop in attendance, mainly due to people's finances - which is understandable.

For 2013 we should promote much more local meets, I.e the mini meet.

Maybe we could appoint people in areas to organise? Could be as simple as a Krispy Kreme doughnut and a chat for an hour or a workshop at someone's house.

But it is ver important that face to face meetings are held.

This year we have the 10th event, Japfest 1 and 2 and a Scottish event. So mini meets will help fill the void.
