I know where the humour's gone.......................since I sold the Scooby so you've got nothing to laugh at

I've been around these parts for almost 8 years and have seen a lot of changes. We used to have some great meets which as said above, spun off into online banter in the following weeks. Still a friendly place to be but it has lost some of it's sparkle.

First off....WTF Dave??? You 'popped up to nutter johns' and gassed for, and I quote '3 hours' with Nev and John!! Now you know I live only a matter of miles from there and yet where was my invite huh?! Oh thats right must've got lost in the Christmas post! Likely story .

Secondly....The above comment was intended solely as banter and being a squaddie that is basically my sense of humour. Now, I have spoken to Dave a few times over the last 2 yrs or so and I obviously know him as one of the regulars on here (technically every member here is a bl00dy regular as theres very few of us compared most other forums, plus he is a mod, love you Dave ) anyway, I've never actually met Dave in person and because of this I am actually still unsure what his reaction is going to be when he reads the above comment for the first time. Obviously as he has never met me Im sure at a first glance he won't really know how it was intended until he reads on.

This is what has stopped me personally from posting banterish type comments on here, purely because I have no idea how the recipient is going to take it. I tend to think 'what if a random stranger ive never met before posted this comment to me?' If there is any tiny slight possibility that it may be taken in the wrong way then I try not to post. Now I'm used to biting my tongue as I work with alot of civilians and all the squaddies on here will know that squaddie humour is absolutely mint and civvies simply have no sense of humour! Thats just how it is! Ask my dad (gadboy007) we used to have a right laugh before I joined the army but now I come out with things that even he cringes at and tbh I often think I must really offend him cause all I do is basically verbally abuse him whenever I see him. But who cares he is just over the hill and lost his sense of humour!

I digress. Basically the face to face meetings are an extremely important part of building any kind of friendship with people. So why don't all you old, lazy buggers on here start organising some meets, be it big or small!!

I think a rr day is a great idea and if its before the 13th feb then i can defo come. If its later but on a weekend then the chances are I can make it

I also hope nobody took any offence to any of the above as it was all meant in good humour and just as a 'laugh'. If you did take offence then by all means let me know and ill personally escort you the padre/chaplain/citizens advice/jeremy kyle show whilst playing my tiny microscopic violin that i keep for such occasions.

So goodbye for now and I will see you ALL at the RR day in Feb won't I???

Simply put Rikki, everybody on here who owns a VR4 has a sense of humour, who else would buy a car that uses more fuel than an A380 on takeoff?

Theres a lovely straight (ish) wide bit of road (Roman Road) on my way into town (when i say on my way I of course mean completely the opposite direction) that you can really open her up on. That plus my dump valve is uber loud so I set it off at every opportunity to show of haha! Hey its my first turbo'd car so Im allowed to be childish

Too much text there to read so skipped to the end & ditto

If I've insulted anyone by doing so, based on the effort gone to in order to write what I can only assume to be a small novel, I don't care, tough, ner ne ne ner ner, etc etc

Ps, hope it had a happy ending (not Thai massage style)
Possibly the only VR4 that was driven by the current owner before being registered..... & it's a UK car

we did actually talk about you and even tried to get in contact with you via you dad (who didnt answer the phone btw) so there. we had a small issue with nevs engine mount that very nearly saw me giving him a lift to swindon . got solved in the end ( i think anyway as got i bored and hungry and went to mcdonalds )
    ,
i live in colchester which as you know is a very large garrison town, because of this i actually hate you lot as all you do is get pi$$ed up and try and lay the fat girls with a tattoo on her boob , if that fails you then pick a fight with a smaller group of civilians to try and exert you manness . then go back to the barracks congratulating each other and then showing your d!cks .

    harsh but true

That's what smilies where invented for

If you use a funny at the start middle or end of something you consider as banter or just havin a laugh then it defuses the post

Some on here still don't use smilies which is there choice!

And yep face to face meets can give you that idea of what a person is like

But there are a lot of members on here that already know each other very well so where has the laugh's & banter gone between us??

Perhaps the 10th anniversary will liven up the threads when most people on here meet each other

Fingers crossed as I really used to like having that laugh

The other issue I see (and it's my faith too) is, that the british guys are quiet used to the VR-4's, while other countries are starting to get the cars imported.

In fact this means, less members from UK, less people who will show up for a meet. New users on here have been from all around the world and maybe they do not have sense for (the very special TBH) british humour.

I'd really love to join a meet in UK but I will Not make it with my car. So I will be reliant on some members to pick me up and get me to the place of the meeting. Maybe I can make it to the ten Year meet and Talk to some of you personally.

So - YES! Face to face meetings are absolutely necessary, although this is a Forum!
the one and only...Pearl White Legnum 25 ST-R...registered in Germany - now featuring a 6A13TT engine (unless you know otherwise)

Good RR Day is fantastic idea. I miss that events.
March is better for me, will turn up even if my vr4 have 4 cylinders firing only
    Ex: Galant VR4
Running 268 HP ATW and 443 Nm torque at 0.9 bar
    Now: Lancer Evolution 8 FQ-300
Running 325 HP ATW and 510 Nm torque at 1.6 bar

Drag race please, 1/4 mile. More jokes thread and smiley ratings for good posts.

Adding my 0.2 pence worth, it is tough posting somethings and not getting responses but lots of views so you can't really tell if it's relevant to people or not.

Humour is a corollary of dealing with reality? Sometimes avoiding tough issues shuts things down with not much humour left.

Then there is the fact that some of us find it hard to be funny.....
