    LPG mpg

    Hi guys

Been looking at a vr4 with a LPG conversion but not sure what mpg people are getting.

Can anyone running LPG give me up to date figures, how much your paying and how many miles?

I currently get 34mpg out of my civic coupe £45 gets me 240ish

    Any info would be great
    Cheers
    Nick

On a standard petrol auto VR4, I tell people to expect 18mpg. As I understand it LPG is up to 10% worse. So expect 16, be happy if you get more.

58-60l of LPG doing 190-200 miles, can get more but it's so much fun to drive :-)
Be carefull what you buying cause a lot of cars is badly converted to LPG and you can get yourself a pickle.

I get around 24mpg on LPG which is equivalent running cost to 40+mpg on petrol... if that makes sense!
    Too much is just enough.

The truth is that with good quality parts especially injectors and good setup savings are around 40%.

    That sounds great!

With the cost of LPG being half the price of liquid gold that we put in are cars, its a massive saving.

Are you all running the LPG on the 2.4 VR4? i have seen a 2.0 V6 with LPG for sale, guessing its a fair bit better on fuel?

    To clarify...
If you do refer to Galant 2.4 engine then it's a no-no. GDI engiens don't like LPG unless it's the most advanced liquid gas injection system which is very pricey.
    For Galant's n/a it's only 2.0 i L4 engine and 2.5V6 engie good for lpg conversion.
Legnum and Galant VR4 is running 2.5V6 turbo engine.

Quoted 2.0V6 engine was in use in Galant n/a 7th generation (1992-1996).
    Ex: Galant VR4
Running 268 HP ATW and 443 Nm torque at 0.9 bar
    Now: Lancer Evolution 8 FQ-300
Running 325 HP ATW and 510 Nm torque at 1.6 bar

mine does 180 miles on 47 litres on lpg but it's too lean for performance driving - switch it to petrol for that.

I used to average about 22-24 mpg with my V6. I think Mrs B does around the same now in hers.

But then I've exceeded 30 mpg in the auto VR-4!

Having said that, I usually average around 16 mpg in the VR-4 - where's the fun in it otherwise!!

So from that you could take that an auto VR-4 will on average use about 50% more fuel than the manual V6. It's obviously a very limited sample (!), but at least the driver's the same!

Haha thanks mate, how they hell did you manage 30mpg? Was that on LPG it petrol?

I mainly do dual carriage way and motorway driving 50miles in total a day for work, I get 25p a mile for work.
Are they more efficient on longer runs?

No LPG for me - it was just a comparison on petrol for the V6 and VR-4!

I obtained my best result on a round trip to Surrey to collect some wheels as cheaply as possible...

If you can cruise at 60mph then the VR4 doesn't do too badly. Put the boot in and the tank empties pretty quick! I have averaged less than 6 mpg on track.

Mine VR4 averaging 200 miles town driving and about 230 motorway on 60 ltr so its 15MPG in town and 17MPG on motorway
convert this to pound spend on fuel and its virtually 28MPG in town and 32MPG on motorway.

Car is driven rather aggressive most of its time.
