Just the belt and tensioner is required.
As long as you know you need a new pulley, then you might as replace it and the belt, it is a ten minute job anyway.

I presuming it is the pulley bearing rumbling, and not the alternator bearing rumbling. Did you just grab the pulley and give it a wiggle, these pulleys do have some normal play in the them, I don't want you to get into the "everything is going wrong paranoia" with my VR4 due to the issues you have been having recently.
The test for rumbling bearing is just remove the alternator belt this stops both the pulley and alternator bear from turning, and the noise should stop.

    Bye for Now!

it starting squealing when winter came in and it always squeals when its wet weather but it was a ralliart trained mechanic who spotted the tensioner issue. he said it needs replacing and since i have no history on the car, i figured i may as well get the belt done at the same time. it could be 10 months or 10 years old, i dont know but they cant be that expensive and it will need the belt fitting back on anyway so why not just get a new one?

Totally agree with you about the belt, but a squealing belt can just mean replace the belt as the other one is warn out and stretched, and no need to spend the £35 from camskill for the pulley.

he wasnt asked to look at it mate. he somehow noticed that the tensioner was making a knocking noise and showed me by physically moving it with his hand. he isnt getting the job now anyway. i had bonnet pins fitted yesterday by a tuner rather than mere mechanic and he managed to spot the very slight oil leak from the sump and the PAS leak from the PAS pump. the other guy couldnt find them and wanted the engine power washed first. i know who i am going to trust with my car
