So, my fiance was complaining about the petrol consumption in the VR4 and I wanted to take it off the road to do some work on it for a while.

My mother was speaking to me about wanting to sell her car as she wants a Landcruiser or similar - so I jokingly offered her $1000 for her 6G Galant.

Long story short - we now have a new car sitting in the driveway.

I'm the second NZ owner, and it has relatively low mileage on it - the engine snapped a cambelt shortly after they got it at around 90,000km. Mitsubishi brought in a front cut from Japan - apparently it's now got an engine from a 1994 car, not sure which model though. All I know is that the new engine is a 4G63.
The new engine had 20,000km on it - so the engine and trans have approx 150,000km on the clock.
Cambelt is due in about 40,000km but it's cheap enough to get replaced.

The rest of the car is in pretty good nick, there is a dent at the back and a few scratches on the paintwork but it's to be expected on a car this age.

I know about the maintenance history as well which is a nice bonus. Only thing I really have to pay attention to is replacing the radiator (it's the OEM one and looks very brittle!) and the aux belts as they are showing age. I think there's a slight brake fluid leak from a caliper as well, so all calipers will be rebuilt soon.
