Hah, save me a spot on that beach. I'll join you for a drink.

I have a few on my watchlist now for short term profits. Might divert a few quid to them before Summits Q3 announcement.

Played a short game today on £100. Walked away with a £20 profit.

This is addictive! Just gotta maintain my levels at £100 a pop. Thats about my level for a write-off if nothing comes of it.

Watching the LSE forums for activity. My punt last week on CHAL paid off £20 today. This one looks to have a good future with discussions suggesting over £1 very soon. Currently £0.55 p/s so could make a good short term result.

Yep, saw that. Looks good with publicity like that.

Holding steady at under 160p for now. At least I'm in now so when the fuse is lit, I'm already strapped for the ride!

I'm also invested in XTR (Xtract), a copper mining company - currently at £0.002 per share! Last week they announced a gold deposit discovery so once they start collecting that, expect bigger numbers.

I've got BOIL on the watch too. I know Nick is already invested but its been static for a while, and until payday April, I might not be able to take a punt on them. Hoping I can hold out until then and still get in at under 10p per share.

I'm sure you know this, but I'll say it anyway for those who don't understand share dealing.

its very important to know what you paid for the shares, when you bought them and the dealing commission paid. Its also very important that you keep a clear record of the sales as well including how much profit you make (sale of shares minus commission).
You also need to understand the rules for buying and selling shares and how to work out the profit (or loss).

You can be liable for Capital Gains Tax if you sell or give away shares. if the gain you make (the positive difference between the cost of the asset (for CGT purposes) and the proceeds you receive on sale), together with any other CGT chargeable gains that you make in the same tax year, is greater than the CGT annual exemption limit.
Once you reach your CGT limit, the tax you pay for CGT is dependent on your earnings. UK individual CGT is chargeable at 18% for basic rate taxpayers and 28% for higher rate taxpayers.

The rules for working out a gain or a loss:

    1. Work out the gain or loss. You need to identify which shares you sold to work out how much they cost for CGT purposes (the CGT base cost) using the following identification rules and in the following order:

    a. Firstly, if you buy and sell shares on the same day, you should match any of the shares you sold with the shares you bought on the same day and use the actual purchase price of the shares you bought on the same day as the base cost for CGT purposes;

    b. Secondly, if you buy any shares within 30 days after a sale of shares, match the shares sold with shares bought in the following 30 days and use the actual purchase price of the shares bought in the following 30 days as the base cost for CGT purposes; and

    c. Thirdly, match shares sold with all the shares previously purchased, aggregating all the purchase prices to create a pool of shares and purchase price. You then apply the purchase price pro-rata to the shares sold.

    Good info Tim.

I have a spreadsheet set up for all my dealings. Every transaction goes on it down to 4 decimal places in some cases!
Everything including the transaction fees, the break even line and my target line.

SUMM is down today on nothing! Was hoping to keep an upward trend going. Still long way to go

I played a short game today and made £80 off £125 invested. Bought into TRP at 0.1539p, put a sell order in at 0.25 and then another one in the afternoon at 0.24. Still holding nearly 30k. It closed yesterday at 0.011, but tomorrow they release a few million extra shares at 0.066. Thats a huge gap at those prices, so there is speculation that prices might jump big tomorrow. More realistic to even itself out around 0.03ish.
My remaining investment in TRP is only £50, currently thats £76, Hoping for around £100 out of that tomorrow. If I can make that, it'll be £180 profit off £125 investment. Not a bad return on my peanuts level punt.

    I know

I'm staying well within my means though. I now have around £100 of play money off these profits to punt with.
I had a fleeting thought earlier, that if I added an extra zero to my figures today, that would have been awesome! But then made the realisation of the flip-side, if it hadnt paid off, I'd have been in a bad situation! Thats why I'll keep to my limit of £100-ish for punts.

Sold all my TRP this morning.
    £125 in, £297 out, £172 profit.
Not bad for two days of shorts.

Edit: I bought in at 0.1539p, peaked today at 0.45p, when I sold. Back down now to 0.22p
Goes to show how quick you have to be with the short games!

Summit put out an RNS this morning at 7am. Details of how the ADSs are now held in the company. No change to share price.

Not at all! I'm just watching the LSE list and tracking the high risers from 9.00am and watching for patterns. I am seeing patterns from around 10% upward, and as soon it pings to around 15%, its looks like enough to punt £100 on to make £30-40 on it. Quick research allows me to scan the forums and look for any RNS data that suggests it warrants a punt. I saw one this week which had a huge spread percentage, meant that the potential profit to gain was not worth it even at a 35% share price rise.

This week, I started with a pot of £300 'punt' money. I have £150 left but also have £380 in shares from it. Effectively I have a load of free shares and a free £150. Obviously, if the shares all plummet now, I'll be down, but I have my stop losses set at a reasonable level for me to walk away in positive.
