    Alternator Tensioner HELP!!!!!

    ok so am trying to replace my alternater belt as the other broke off, have got the bits of the old one off and am now trying to lower the tensioner to put new one on??? uuuuummmm so yeah have been turning the bolt on the top but no go, am I supposed to be doing something else?? please help!!

    Yes, you have to loosen the bolt through the middle of the pulley before it will slide using the bolt on the top.

    As Nick said, just to add that, this bolt is a bitch to lose, come across few vr4 with rounded one.

    If you havn't loosened the bolt through the centre of the pully before trying to "undo" the tensioning bolt there is a good chance that you may strip the threads off the tensioning bolt at the point where the 2 bolts cross. Which could then make it a right bitch to get the long tensioning bolt out after the centre bolt has been removed.

    ok sweet,.... was trying to loosen that bolt but was being a stubborn bastard and my bro also managed to thread the top bolt, i assume this can be replaced with a new bolt of same size, thanks for the help
