Does anybody know the best place to get a fuel filler neck from ?
Does anybody know the best place to get a fuel filler neck from ?
I've searched a bit when I found on both my Galants these were getting very 'crusty' I didn't find anything else except original mitsu, but found it way to expensive, so I sourced a set of second hand ones in decent condition, cleaned them up good, gave it good primer, base coat and clear coating. For not even half the price of 1 new one I have two excellent fuel filler necks, maybe they're in even better protected condition now than the original single-coat from mitsu...

It's one of the things I made sure I painted when I under sealed my car. I'd suggest the same as Mark - even if you do end up having to get a new one, paint it before you fit it.
Sounds like plan, possibly a new one as struggling to find any good condition 2nd hand ones.
Mine has just gone
It started weeping through, I noticed the MPG getting worse then smell got me yesterday
Wondering whether to go new or secondhand
Can these still be ordered new ?
It's not the easiest to come off
Yes they are still available from mitsu. Coming off should be not very hard at all. 3 bolts on top, one in the middle and 2 hoses with clamps from memory.
I think it was around 140 euro.
Found out today a new filler neck
10-15 days
Price is £107.40 plus Vat
From dealer, could be worse !
I will find out from the guy I ordered it from and get back to you
Arrived today
No gasket or bolts , definitely needs painted
It came with a good hard coat of black on part of it
Why they don't paint it all is crazy !
Looks like I'm in need of a new one too. Parked my car at the top of the driveway today which is at an incline. Walked past a while later and spotted a leak. I seem to have a very small hole in the filler neck and the leak only occurs when its parked on an incline. Left it parked at the bottom of the driveway. Parts dept at dealer won't be open until Tuesday now, damn shame.
I only had to wait for a week , they did say 10-15 days for delivery, not to bad !
I didn't want to take the chance of a patch up on it
Just coated mine with galvanizing spray then under sealed , should last the life of the car now.
Ah, that's a much more manageable lead time. I've organised a rolling road day for the 17th and don't want to have to pull out if the replacement filler neck hasn't arrived in time.
Hopefully you get it in time mate
Good luck 👍
2-3 week lead time, special order from Japan. Great :-(

Special order simply means that the part is coming from outside the UK. Often the parts come from Europe, so can turn up quickly. Sometimes they are from Japan though, so the 3 week lead time is a cover all eventualities thing.
