Thumbs up How many Tons of pressure would you need to press a wheel bearing on and off?

I am going to buy a press either fly or hydraulic to press wheel bearing on and off and i need to know what sort of tons of pressure do you think i would need.
    my options are,
    6 ton
    10 ton
    12 ton
    20 ton

hopefully i will not need any more.
does anyone have a press that they use for doing wheel bearings, and how big ton wise it.

    Bye for Now!

I've got a 20 ton press and it had no problem with it. 20 ton is a LOT. I've blown a bearing to pieces before with it, as well as making cups out of 10mm plate steel.

I've got access to a 30t press and once it struggled to press a bearing out. Boy was there a bang which it finally moved!

10T has been fine for the wheel bearings I've changed

It's quite a heart quickening moment, isn't it?

cheers for the responses guys i will have a look around to see what i can get.
i was hopeing you were going to say you only need a 6 Ton press as i found a supplier that will do one for £58 delivered.
    i will carry on looking.

or i might consider making one and just using a 10 or 20 Ton bottle jack.
or i have a possibility of getting a fly press very old school

I've got a 20t, but it NEVER exceeded 4-5t on the gauge, while undoing the bearings... Just my 5 cents

    cheers alex
you have one of the more expensive examples of a hydraulic press.
maybe there is hope for doing cheaply.

Oh yes! Trouser changing might be more exact.

And Dave, TBH, that was one with a lot of rust on and was not normal. They usually come out a fair bit easier than that.

the reason for my question is i have found a uk supply of rear bearing for the evo which is the same as the vr4 rear bearing, and they are about £75 delivered for a pair.
so it works out much cheaper to just do the bearing.
i posted the info on the latest WTB rear wheel bearing thread.
