    Brake Caliper Specialists Help

    Hi guys,

Has anyone had any experience with The Brake Caliper Specialists in Nottingham at all?

I sent my Brembos off to them to get refurbed and repainted. They state that they will contact the customer within 1hr of receiving their calipers. I have heard nothing from them and have been trying to phone them for the past 2 days but nobody answers the phone. The guy I have been emailing who was dead helpful up to this point has ceased contact with me and nobody is replying to my emails to the group mailbox.

I am now getting a little concerned as Brembo are not cheap in the first place (not to mention the hub carriers) and now my VR-4 has no brakes on and can therefore not be driven.

If anyone has had any dealings with them or knows of a direct email/alternate contact number that would be great. Otherwise it will be a days leave on Monday to visit the workshop face to face.

    TIA

    Rikki

a couple of my friends have used them with no problems in the past and remember a member on here having some rather special blue ones returned to him.

Hi , I had no problems with them at all. I did find sometimes they might be 2 -3 days without contact if I was trying to phone them , but managed to get hold of them. I get the feeling that they are not as big as the web advert makes out, therefore sometimes you may struggle to get hold of somebody. I'll have a look through my old e mails and see if I can dig any other information out.

They seemed to spam me a lot after I asked for a quote to get my brembos refurbished. Was put off using them as a result. Hope you manage to get hold of someone. Have you tried contacting them via their Facebook page?

Hi guys, cheers for the replies. I had a look at their facebook page and there were several rather bad reviews with some peoole not having had contact with them for 7 weeks whilst ive had contact from them during that time. Did have an email this afternoon followed up with a phone call to tell me they had received them and were currently inspecting them.

This at least is a good thing but this only happen after a rather shirty few emails to say I was coming to collect them.

Its good to know that a few REAL people have had good experiences as all the positive reviews on the facebook page I can link back to employees of the company.

Ill see what happens on monday but will be vigilant on this one.

    Cheers again guys

Seems odd given Gavin's experience with them. I've sent mine off to a third party that do refurbs for a local garage that I have used for work on my other cars over the years. Waiting to find out how much they will be and when they will be done by.

Obviously Gib you know pics are in order once you get yours done

I have had a decent bit of contact from them today in form of phone calls and emails etc to discuss my 'special' requirements and it seems that maybe they just had a bad week or so last week?! Hopefully they will be starting the refurb this afternoon or tomorrow morning then getting the paint done toward the end of the week. Hopefully have them back for the 15th when I am off home next so I can fit them that weekend.

Good news. Mine will be taking a while to get done but I've been told the price will be lower as a result. Perfect news for a Yorkshireman. I'm still unsure about my colour choices but I'll stick with my guns and will post some pics up once they are back.

Can never argue with discount prices. I too am a little unsure about the colour scheme I have picked but we will see once they are on the car.

Haha Lol at the extra random 1 caliper.

Im paying £350 for the fronts (brembo 4 pots). Includes the strip down and shotblasting of the caliper and then rebuilding with new parts. Then includes a VHT repaint in a colour of your choice. (im having a 'non-standard' colour so a little extra) Plus a custom decal in a 'non-standard' colour. They then come with a 4yr functionality and paint warranty.

The above work is for a pair of fronts. Also had to pay a little extra as one of the crossover pipes was seized so had to be sorted.

I reckon if you go for a standard refurb with a just a HT paint (only 2yr warranty as opposed to 4) in a standard colour then you could be looking at around £250. Also if they are only standard 2 pots then a little cheaper still.

The rear brembo 2 pots on mine with the same extras as the fronts comes up about £300 mark.

    Hope this helps mate.

Just had an email from the guys to say that my calipers have been blasted and rebuilt and are the next to be painted. Crossing my fingers to have them back for the weekend and get some pics up of them

Just spoke to the guys and they are sending out the calipers today so should have them tomorrow. The guy dealing with my order said they look really Gucci and thinks I will be impressed. Lets hope so. I of course will upload pics when I have them.

Pictures have come up a bit dark but they are painted Trigger Mauve to match the car so shouldnt stand out too much. Was going to go with the VR-4 decal in Anthracite to match the wheels and the bonnet but it came out too dark and looked better in white.

    What do you guys think?

Both positive and negative feedback welcomed

Great idea with vr4 decals, to be ideal I personally would like to keep bottom pipes unpainted, more 'industrial' or OE look, but overall they looks pretty, a bit pricey but pretty. Well done.
