    Taking out the gearbox (manual)

It appears my gearbox has minor leaks coming from some worn seals. What needs to come out to get the gearbox out?

Do you really need to remove it? Where are the leaks coming from?

I took it to my mechanic and he advised me that it was at least two seals that he could see. One is in a crack that is in the middle of of the box and the other is on the right side next to the green thing. Will have pictures up soon to aid my description.

    Anyone?
My biggest concern is does the exhaust have to come off if the gearbox is to be taken out?
    Cheers

to remove the gearbox, you wll need to:

    remove air intake pipework
    remove north-south bar
    remove downpipes
remove both front driveshafts (gearbox ends only)
remove output shaft (I thik thats what it caled?), you need a slide hammer for this.
    remove the transfer box
    remove the starter motor

    then remove gearbox.

I would not try to do it without research as disengaging clutch bearing could be VERY tricky if you not know how to as taking lay shaft out is not an easy task, without tools designed for it, either.

I'm not convinced you need to remove the gearbox to replace the seals you are pointing to. Unless I am misreading the photos, I think you only need to take the transfer box off.

Having another look, it looks like you are pointing at the transfer case, and is that drivers side for the second pic? If so, transfer case

Thought so, where you are pointing to in first pic looks like the join between t case and gearbox

Is there an easier way to get to the seal then taking out the whole thing?
