Cheers Darren, I prefer de-badged cars no matter what make, model or modification level I just like things smooth lol. Was toying with leaving the VR-4 badge but I have the VR-4 brake light so got rid in the end. Last thing for the rear end now is the Facelift spoiler needs fitting, maybe a new bumper but havent decided yet haha.

I really like the debadged look.
It also give you the opportunity to scare the rest of the cars on the road when they think you are driving a uk spec galant.
Well not your case rikki your car could never be described as standard.

    Bye for Now!

When I removed the V6 airbox I noticed something quite concerning, a section of the flexi rubber pipe that heads down to the front turbo had a huge tear where the clips holds it on, anyway a picture paints a thousand words:

So back to the purple VR-4 it was to remove the same section, upon inspection it appeared that this one was fine. Swapped them over and then set to installing the correct VR-4 airbox.

Below are some pictures of the differences in diameter of the snorkel and the airbox entrance:

I have had a ton of looks already and I pulled into Matalan car park on saturday morning and this guy was stood having a cigarette, watched me drive round the car park. After I parked up in a lonely space with no cars around he wandered over slowly as I walked off, I looked back and he was having a right gawp at the car.

Yeah definitely and I only noticed because I took the snorkel off once and noticed the bit that connects to the box didnt look quite right. Luckily had the purple VR-4 sat next to it so took a look.

After seeing @Bobby~d 's switchblade key fob conversion I decided to embark on my own.

Bought a Mitsubishi switchblade/flip key fob, got the dremel out and chopped down my spare key to fit inside. The Cobra key fob circuit fits in just nicely and the one button that is used to lock/unlock the car lines up with the unlock button of the new fob. Put it all back together and now I have a single modern looking key/fob

    20150604_232206.jpg20150604_232224.jpg20150604_232233.jpg20150604_232239.jpg

The reason I cut the spare key was that Timpsons refuse to cut blanks that are not provided by them and the branch here do not have the correct blanks for flip keys (this may be different for the bigger stores)

Also I had the dremel laying around and it saved a few quid so there we have it.

gave the car a wash tonight and when i was doing a front wheel i caught the valve and it split and started to go down,
Glad it happened when at home.IMG_3051[1].JPGIMG_3050[1].JPGIMG_3052[1].JPG

Thanks, always love the look of cars with cibie lights seen on pictures ONLY, till today, and it not disappoint me 'live' at all, suit d-tec covers an overall front end of the car, don't know if i should colour coded them or leave as it is, now just need to realign them to even out gaps and hunt for decent HID kit and CREE LEDs to finish off this lovely set.

@adaxo those lights are looking amazing!!!

Although it was the Audi and not the VR-4 I finally sourced a caliper (what a nause dont get me started) I swapped out all the discs and pads on the front and swapped the caliper over, oooh shiny:

    20150618_214046_resized.jpg

After bleeding the brakes and going for a spin round camp I hear a metal clanging kinda sound against the road, look in my mirror and see this bouncing down the road:

    20150618_173522_resized.jpg

Yup that is indeed the rear suspension spring that has just snapped!!!! Luckily there is a huge plastic boot at the bottom underneath the spring and the part that sheared was 'just about' rested on the plastic so it didnt collapse thankfully.

So off to Halfrauds it was to buy some spring compressors and remove the old spring:

    20150618_213042_resized.jpg

Now I am left with a huge gap where the spring should be until tomorrow morning when the new one arrives and at only £45 im not too devastated. Hopefully one day I will get to drive the Audi again lol

Today I changed the temp sender, Ignition failure sensor (as a precaution) cable tied the new knock sensor to the oil catch can and plugged it in. I wasn't going to get down to where they live today. Plus this is to see if the knock light will stay out now. Also a new brake switch. And a new stepper motor,

After three months of waiting I eventually get my teins, ordered and paid 15th April, god that ship was slow.

So while I was there it was a good opportunity to have a look on my annoying squeaky brembos, last time I fit pads bone dry, this time I try something different, just follow @Davezj instructions and using this magic lubricant

    clean pads, shims and pins

and apply grease everywhere bar actually working surface

    20150707_114334 (Large).jpg

after putting back all together squeak gone completely, its very odd to have quiet breaks, hope it stay that way, will report if they become noisy again

Lets move to main job for today, here's the beauties

    20150707_120957 (Large).jpg20150707_121002 (Large).jpg20150707_121014 (Large).jpg20150707_121029 (Large).jpg20150707_121035 (Large).jpg

fitted within 20 minutes, heh, done this many times so not an issues there, I don't even take rear wheel off any more to do suspension swap. Car sits a bit to low on factory settings but I let them 'run in' for a bit and then adjust to my likings and corner weight the car as this is, eventually, the setup as I want, 8kg fronts and 5kg back IMO are spot on, car feels a lot more civilised now in comparison to previous set of teins which has been rock hard, so hard that was not any move if you push, hard, front end, very happy.
