Bye for Now!
Replaced my drivers side mount, it was noticeably worn when I got the car and got completely stuffed after the manual conversion. The car feels soooo different now, I swear it starts quicker and easier, drives smoother, accelerates quicker and sounds different, and the vibration at 50 & 100kmph seems to have gone.
I cleaned my engine bay a bit today as well it got a bit dirty on the drive back from the tuning day. engine bay 9116.jpg
Not really what Iv done today, but more what iv done in the past two weeks.
I replaced my verrrry tired Tein Comfort Sports out for new shiny BC br series. Both of my nearside Teins were knackered and the state of the bumpstops reflected this. The car was constantly knocking and banging which led me to believe that numerous bushings were shagged. Car felt very sloppy and I was constantly braking and accelerating on bumpy roads to keep the tyres from raping the arches.
The new BC's have absolutely transformed the car. Comfort has not been compromised at all. Out of 30 adjustments (0=soft, 30=hard), i have them set at 8 front and 12 rear. Even at this they are quiet firm but are well able to soak up bumps. Holds very well in roundabouts and understeer is non existant any more. No knocking any more so my bushings/joints are still alive. And absolutely no scrubbing the arches even after lowering the car a further 10mm from what they were with the Teins. Now sitting pretty. Old Teins possibly for sale for parts or rebuild.
Also I decided to freshen up my paint work this weekend with a clay bar detailing kit. Spent the best part of 8 hours washing, drying, claying, polishing and sealing and tidying up the tyres and plastic/rubber trim. Body work is now smooth as glass and free from tar and bug crap. Also showed up 1 or 2 little signs of rust begining. Which will have to be sorted asap.
Done coolant flush yesterday and ended up breaking my rad cap. So that will have to be sorted. Luckily im only 10mins from work so it wont boil over in the mean time.
While I was in there, I figured my Y-pipe needed to be freshened up. So pulled it, sanded it and gave it a coat of matt black high temp paint. Makes a big difference to the bay. Im tempted to do the same for my strut brace.
Also fitted a nice new battery clamp.
Next up is a power steering and brake fluid refresh. Get the stock airbox back on with a K&N panel. Get my emissions under control for the car test. Sort out my ventilation solonoid issues. And I have my eyes on a Snow Performance water/meth injection kit. After that I can start toying with the idea of boost control.

fixed coolant leak, by stripping the engine down to get access to all the coolant pipe and tightened all hose clamps. no sign of a leak but now the system holds pressure.
sealed the gap between coolant rad and air con condenser. with expanding tape.
re tensioned the alternator belt
tightened the rear turbo oil feed to fix a small oil leak.
replaced one of the intercooler fans.
removed baffle plate on rear of coolant rad that hold fans on and relocated fans on back of rad.
fitted new stronger arch liners bought from adaxo adam.
rewired the fan over ride switch i have fitted.
tested the cooling system, pipes are rock hard when system is pressurised, when coolant cools down it now sucks coolant from the over flow tank.
checked all suspension bushes on the front.
checked all the suspension bushes on the rear. found rear droplinks are knocking.
so it is long day.

Weekend warrior update: Started dealing with the dodgy AYC pump. Got the refurb kit (yay!), rounded off one of the high pressure fitting nuts when taking the pump out (boo), started taking the pump apart (yay!) and broke one of the solenoids off (boo, hiss). Clearly made some progress, but Sunday just wasn't my day in the end.

The more you know, the faster you can go. And I still don't know enough.
In prep work for Sunday track day I installed service pack 1

Possibly the only VR4 that was driven by the current owner before being registered..... & it's a UK car
No I mean Vap way above coolant level, and this LPG pipe going round the back of engine. Just this seems to me that species who did it have not much clue what they doing, Im scared to see where they put injectors? :-)
Tell me what car is it? circular flap is not a problem.
