looks like a neat job adam.
i just bought 50 neodymium 40x10x4 magnets and it is car related.
Bye for Now!
R you planning to use them instead of ARP studs to keep your heads down?
btw need someone to drive my car and I can see this rim protectors in motion, as it turns out, its not so easy to apply them evenly on the rim edge and if they not bang on it will looks like you have very badly bend wheel when in motion.
keep the head down. lol.
it will all be revieled when the car is looking a bit better.
Too much is just enough.
Nah, to simple.
i like to do things the hard way.
Im away at the moment but so will have to get back to you on the part number that I ordered.
Not actually today job, has been fighting with it two weeks now, after discovered very nasty surprise in one of my front strut tower, which turns from a little, what looks like paint imperfection just below AC pipes, to a mohoosiive hole, when we lift AC pipes up and start digging it just turn in to dust, so its now patched and I said to myself, its last call to finish proper underseal job as if I leave it for much longer then it will be scrapper.
While I was there I decide to fit poly bushes everywhere, so parcel from states arrived and so far one side of the car is done, undersealed and poly bushed, also eventually, fitted ingalls camber correction ball joints, enjoy few photos.

Very nicely done! I've got two sides to patch up... need to find the time and foremost the will to start it.
once you start you will not be able to stop poking and grinding.
i did almost exactly the same repair on my othe VR4 a few weeks back but both sides and in more places.
you should have seen the minimal rust on adams car before he started poking around with a screw driver it looked like a small 10p size patch of surface rust.
but once he started poking, the surface started to crumble away and a hole opened up and it just got bigger and bigger, then he got down to what looked like solid metal, brought out the big hammer and chisel and the metal started to crumble again.
it is amazing what will crimble under a sharped cold chisel and a club hammer. but you have to make sure the metal that is left is good and strong before you start repairing.
it was quite shoking the size of the hole from what looked like surface rust, it had been eatern away from underneather.
but the reapair was a proper job and it should last for the lifetime of the car.
the problem seems to be the plate on the underside, there is a gap in the welded seam high up which lets water and crap get in behind the plate but their are supposed to be two small slots in the lower exit gap in the welded seam there to let the water out, but these get blocked up and the water sits behind the plate and rots it out from the inside. it is a very bad design problem.
the rust on my silver vr4 is much worse than adams so i am preparing myself for a lot of grinding an welding it will be a big job, but worth doing well.
i have seen much worse rust on other peoples cars at meets and it always seems to be in the same places, this is defitely a design issue.
so check you car dont ignore it, tackle it sooner rather than later and it could save yourself a lot of hassle in the future.
