High rev on start then drops with rough idle

Hey, I have a 98 galant vr4.

When I turn it on it revs to 2000 rpm then after about 30 second give or take drops down too around 900. After it drops and is in idle the car will vibrate. While driving it is smooth, just vibrates when idling. Any ideas what is going on here?

The first thing to check with these cars in almost every rough running scenario is a boost leak.

Thanks for that. It looks like a bit of a read so I'll look into it when I've finished work.

Also I'm new to christchurch, nz since this car. Does anyone know a trusted mechanic to deal with these cars? You usually have to take them to specialists right?

Im always up for cash jobs on these cars.

especially bigger jobs that most people are scared of doing such as clutch changes, cambelts or any other kind of mechanical work done I know these cars inside out and backwards. and can always use a spare bit of cash in my pocket and Ill do it cheaper and better than most mechanics
