    HiD look bulbs

    Hey,

One of my dipped bulbs has gone and I went on ebay to look at buying one and most bulbs for sale are HiD look, anyone tried these bulbs ? worth getting ?
As we all know standard galant headlights are not great so I'd be pleasantly suprised if these bulbs are legit and make a difference.

    would 100watt be ok ?

    or 55watt better ?

    Cheers

the Blue coating will burn off in a couple of hours and they will go dim after a few weeks of use. just like normal bulbs unless you buy really good quality bulbs, not all bulbs are equal.
you generally get what pay for with bulbs.

100W bulbs are not road/MOT legal. they will dazzle other drivers until the go dimmer

    Bye for Now!

As Dave says above absolutely useless past a couple of weeks. The only way to improve the lights in these is a proper HID conversion or drive with foglights and full beams on at all times after dusk.

I have tried 70w bulbs before. It made no difference to night time visibility, I didn't get flashed by oncoming traffic but they did start melting the bulb holders.

What is the beam like on those? HID kits like that can't keep the beam spread right. It would be interesting to see how the LEDs do, I would expect them to be too dim or not able to keep the beam focused properly.

That's interesting, although not for me as mine are in bits at the moment with HID projectors being fitted!!

I'd still be intrigued to see results in the flesh - LED headlights are a new concept for me.

I run these 120% brighter than standard 55 watt halogens in my VR-4. They only have a slight blue tinge and do not really look like HIDs, however brightness is very good. I would rate them as being nearly equal illumination-wise to my VW Golf GTI which has factory HIDs.
