I spoke to one of my WOF inspectors who is a bit of a Nazi and explained the situation to him and his opinion was if it produced a beam pattern with the correct cut offs and was using a suitable reflector it shouldn't be a problem.
He also said he can't see how the inspector failed it with out putting it on a beam setter.

VTNZ must put its inspectors on a course on how to go full retard judging by some of the things I have seen come out of there with a warrant.

We had one car we managed to put 2 pages of fails on the check sheet (including a visible fuel leak from under the car). Customer to it to VTNZ and it passed.

Then you have a car like my old vr4 which they tried to fail on not being certified for the lowering springs and boost gauge!

Went in for a wof at a different place, they reckoned, if the beam height and pattern was sweet, they would pass is, it was really high, the cut off line was above the highest measurable point on the tester, wasn't even sure if the unit had enough travel to put it in line haha, so happy as that they are sweet with the lights, just need to take it in for recheck tomorrow, had to raise the car, was less than 100mm at lowest point on chassis, so he measured from the thing that covers the chassis end of the curved arm, was a few mm low, drivers straight arm failed, and belt for ac, all sorted now though, so go get the wof tomorrow and no more dealing with the vtnz or nzta c****.

About what nzta has said about the lights now (they are too s*** to tell me from the start), the reason they says they are illegal is because even if the pattern and height is sweet, the height may change during driving due to vibration, although I was thinking, the front of the car goes up and down with the road, the heights going to change no matter what

    there all 6k hids,
think 5.2k is optimum but not likely to change anything,

its down to the height of the car, and aim of the lights, full beam should "flood lights", theres no cut offs on the high beam

yeah some odd fitting, cant buy off the shelf in nz, ebay only

and if your undoing the large nut on the back you are undoing the projector unit itself,
and thats not good, because that will put the level alignment out and you cant fix that without opening up the head lights,

it was the hi beam that i was undoing, had better light pattern than the other side when it went through wof, so seems alright, are all the bulbs the same?
