You'll need to take out the following, I usually do it in this order:
- Gear shifter surround - one clip at the rear and each side, I usually lever the rear up first
- Front screws - one screw on each side under the surround
- Cup holder - clips in, can take out separator for something to grab
- Bolt and plug - bolt underneath the cupholder and a plug for a light, might be easier to lift the centre console tub out
- Rear screws - Put the front seats forward, there are screws on each side at the rear bottom of the centre console
do you need to do this to remove the upright panel that contains the climate control and stereo etc or does it have another method of removal?
There is a guide in the full members area.
This is the link (copied from another page) but wont load for you.

But...
1 - remove the gear lever surround trim.
2 - pull out the ashtray from the console
3 - pull console out from the dash; there are six spring clips holding it in place along the sides. Two top, two middle, two bottom. You might need a thin screwdriver to pry the top ones away.
4 - remove electrics from cig lighter, climate control etc.
