Kev, good info, but while the thicker oil will quieten the lifters, thinner oil looks after cold start ups and turbos better. I personally would rather live with a bit of lifter tick than shorten the life of the turbos.
Having said that, I would rather clean or replace the lifters than live with bad lifter noise.

Bye for Now!
Ah you see this is why it's good to talk in forums.... Being a non turbo V6 Galant owner in the past I wouldn't have considered that aspect of getting oil quickly to the turbo's. Thanks Nick.

Tbf i dont think that was anyones intention dave .As you know it can be easy to miss things so small when looking for them .
Id be interested to see pics when you do find the oil feeds if it wasnt to much bother .
Have you thought about the restriction being in the block as opposed to the head since you did the flush ?
possibly the clubs first manual super

may sound silly but have you looked from both sides of the head as if the hole is at an angle ,it may not be seen from one side [if that makes sense ]

If your going to the efforts of cleaning the head i hope the bottom is getting as good a clean otherwise its pointless cleaning.
On a side note thats were i left the keys!

I haven't responded because I don't know. I'm sorry it has taken this long for me to reply with this lack of information.

To clear the ticking - replace the lifters and use good quality oil. My lifters are only getting slightly noisy now after 180,000km - and to shut them up I just need to wait for the engine to warm up slightly.
Don't mess with head oil flow - it's a good way to wreck the oil pressure balance in the engine, and you could end up starving your bearings. Mitsubishi's engineers would have done a lot of R&D to arrive at the current setup.
To clear up the ticking you have 4 options
1 live with it
2 use some good quality oil flush do oil change warm up put another flush in do oil change warm up do 1 last oil change.
This will remove any flush left in the system and lifters. When warming run no higher than 2000rpm but dont do on tick over as bottle days as it wont get into the lifters. Use good 5w30 or 5w50 or 10w60. You may get a tick every now and then but it soon goes thats the cheap option.
3. Take lifters out clean right out put back in (good option if belt needs doing.
4. Get 3mm hole lifters problem solved as holes are slightly bigger.
Forgot to say if you have an oil cooler drain the cooler after each flush or oil change as you would normally to make sure there is no flush in the oil cooler rad (just thought i would add it as dont know how many of you are running coolers)
