pcv issue solved. much worse issue created

I have just replaced my pcv valve on the front bank because it fell out the other day causing a massive vacuum leak. When Itried to put it back in the plunger etc inside flew out and were lost. I managed to find this PCV Valve AIRTEX 6P1060 on ebay. For about 15£ insteadIif the 55 CamSkilll wanted. Can't say the quality is amazing but I'm sure it will do the job.

My problem is. When removing the broken remains of the the old valve I noticed the bung was decayed as well. I thought it better to pull it all out then try to fit the new valve other wise. Whilst trying to pull the parts out a 1 cm ish hoop of what used to be bung went into the head. Ive fished around a bit through the hole and I think there's a shelf under there which the piece is sitting on.

could anyone confirm weather this 'shelf' runs the full length of the rocker cover or is this piece of plastic going to fall off one day and into the cam area

or if anyone has a picture of the inside of the rocker cover that would be apreciated

Just had a look at a spare head and shortly I'll upload the photo's too (need to work now) but you can relax. The shelf is not letting out anything that would fall in.

If you use a vacuum cleaner or air compressor (with a vacuum-device) and hook up a little hose you might be able to get it out and be even more comforted

I've highlighted the areas where one might suspect an opening, but as the pictures show, that's not the case, so you can safely drive!
