Washer Pump is Temperamental

My windscreen washer pump seems to be a bit temperamental in that sometime sit works and sometimes it doesn't.
Is this a regular fault or likely to just be a loose connection?

Not heard of it before, so not common.

not a common fault

try disconnecting it and cleaning the connection sound like dodge connection.

Thanks guys, that was my thought but wanted to check if they were prone to failure before investigating further
