Help...I can't get my stuck piston out

    Hi all,

Well I have a sticky piston and went to have a look at it today to source the parts and I can't get the piston to move enough to pop it out. The upper piston moves lovely and I got the lower one moving but now it's stopped. It's still connected to the hydraulics and I have broken a g clamp preventing one piston moving while trying to get it going more. I had the engine running so the servo would be helping but it won't budge. The pedal just hoes solid.

I was wondering if anyone has any tricks or can recommend a tool to get the piston out?

    Thanks in advance

I had a similar issue with my Brembo's. I ended up using a block of wood to keep the free moving piston in place and then an airline to blow into the calliper I nearly took my finger off when it gave in!

yep i would go with the block of wood method on the free moving caliper.

but before you try and pop it out i would try and push it back in a bit with a monkey wrench (adjustable pliars) just in case it has locked up with a bit of dirt or something like that.

then either stand on the brake pedal to pop it out, but that does put a lot of strain on the braking system. if you can use compressed air then it will probably be better as it is a lot more controlable with the air pressure regulator

but be safe as tim points out..

    Bye for Now!

Yeah I did use a socket and some tyre levers to stop the moving piston but the stuck one still did not budge. I was unable to push it backwards as well. Maybe will go buy another g clamp and try again.
    Cheers for the replies
