think brake master maybe on way out that or a leak

I just wanna check with what your legnum vr4s do.
While running mine is normal brakes are a little hard to push down feels like i have to push harder than i should but they have always been like that but the peddle is a little soft with engine running. As soon as i turn it off all the vacum goes and the peddle is rock hard without even punping the peddle a few times.

Thinking master or leak what you guys getting on yours?

There is a one way valve in the pipe from the plenum to the servo. Maybe that is leaking or you have replaced the pipe with a normal one?

that is normal for my car rock hard with engine off pedle softer with engine on.

first third of pedle travel does not much middle third is the brakes from virtually off to fully on last third is ABS all the way.

This leads me to the question, if you slam on the brakes does the ABS kick in (brake pedle pulsing) if so you can not apply any more braking force to the disks in your current brake setup.

if this is how you brakes always feel then i would say nothing to worry about, but if you notice the brake pedle going further and further down so you dont get full braking with pedle pushed to the floor and only pumping the pedle gets them to work then you have a problem.

Never found out if abs works. As said the master is working as goes soft when you start the can but just goes instant hard when you switch it off rather than most cars you get a few pumps then they go hard.

Sounds like the 1 way valve is broken, not working properly, or missing, so the servo is going back to atmospheric pressure as soon as you switch off the engine.

i have tested my one way valve and it works, i just pulled the pipe off and did a blow down the pipe testand it flowed one way and not the other. it flowed towards the servo.
but that does not mean i dont have small leak someway else. worth checking.

Dave, unless I am reading your sentence incorrectly, your pipe is on back to front? The servo requires vacuum, so air should only flow away from the servo?

sorry yes, i said it the wrong way round, just testing to see if anyone was paying attention, honest, lol.

the servo assist would not work at all is the one way valve was round the wrong way.
