    galant 2.5 v6 mods

Hi guys just bought a 2003 galant elegance v6 and after a bit of advice.

What's the best air filter/cold feed induction kit? Do I need a maf adaptor plate?

Where can I get some estate lowering springs as most of the ones I've seen are for sedan only?

Where can i get a decent exhaust for it too I. E jap can and a different centre??

    Any help would be great
    Many thanks

    Chris

Hi Chris, welcome to the forum!

There's not much you can really do with a standard V6 - they are actually pretty good straight out of the factory!

The best inlet filter is the standard air box, with a new panel filter. This won't give you much extra noise, if that's what you're after, but will give you the best performance and correct fuelling! If you wanted to replace it with a cone-type filter for more noise, then you will probably need a MAF adapter plate if it doesn't come as a kit with one.

As for lowering springs, apparently Spax do some for both normal and self-levelling suspension. I've not used the company advertising these, so can't vouch for their reputation.

There will probably be nothing off the shelf exhaust wise, your best bet will be to go visit your local exhaust fabricator, and have a chat with them, as they will be able to tailor a custom system for you based on your wishes of looks and sound.

    Hi Chris,

Regarding more power, the Elegance trims are (on paper) 158 HP, if you want to get more performance out of them they can be tuned but I wouldn't expect a lot. Although it's something I can do, I've never tuned a N/A before so I can only say this with theory; I think with a good panel filter (such as this) and a decent exhaust you may see 170-180 HP. A cam would help too.

Adaxo's cone filter should do the trick too, just make sure to have a cold-air feed (or keep the stock nozzle fitted with the air box removed).

You can always drop a VR-4 lump in it and make what's known as as "VR-2"

Will accept any reasonable offer, but remember rears are for car with self levelling shock, make sure its what you after or you be able to use front springs only.

OK so mine isn't self levelling am I right in saying that sedan lowering springs will fit?? As there is a lot of add's on ebay for springs that exclude the estates.

Different spring rates for saloon and estate, so you may find the rear end too soft if you fit saloon springs to an estate (the estate has more weight over the back wheels, so needs stiffer springs)
