i you want a manual go for a manual but if you want a great auto box with tiptronic manual mode that will hold a gear to the red line and bounce off it if you want, and the box is designed. if they are looked after with the correct ATF then they are very reliable.
but like anything that is 15+ years old they are not new and normally have a lot of miles on them. so dont expact either the manual box or the auto box to last another 100,000 without problem.

    Bye for Now!

put it this way, i always said i would never drive an auto car until i drove a VR4 auto.

i bought my first VR4 auto 2006 and my second VR4 auto in 2010 and i still have that one.
admitidly i did trash my original gearbox launching off the line at about 3500rpm but they are not meant to be driven like that.

see if you can find a local membeer to take you out in there car so you can experience the car before you buy, at least you would be able to get a feel if you like the auto option. as probably anyone near you will have an auto.

if you want to make the trip up to nottingham we are having a get together for a rolling road day later on in may the 21st i think at area 52. there will be autos and manuals there and you car probably get out in either for a little drive out.

    Whereabouts in Bristol are you?

I'm not that far away in Gloucester (well, when I'm at home anyway), although my VR-4 is on axle stands at the moment while I find the time to sort a few niggles!

I'm going to be down north Bristol way tomorrow evening - I'd be more than happy to take you out for a spin in mine (an auto), and have a chat about them - I've had mine for 8 years now - I vowed after I had a 1.8 Mitsubishi Carisma automatic I'd never have another auto - but here I am, 8 years later, still driving and enjoying my VR-4!

Met up with Ben on Wednesday night after a 3 hour drive from Mansfield!

Spent about an hour and a half talking, and took him out for a 20 minute spin

I was just saying that i should go on here and say many thanks to Garry for taking the time to meet up with me and answer my many questions !! and of course having a little spin have to say it was a litttle bit faster than the cube ! but as far as the car goes i think i will now look at possibly getting on from japan maybe the newer facelift but will have to see whats about and not worried about having a auto at all so watch this space !!
