Would I be correct in saying:
I would only require 1 litre of brake fluid to replace full system fluid, I'm using new front pads and discs, so less space for fluid behind caliper pistons)
?

Updating Soon!! 1998 Legnum VR4, fully serviced every 4500 miles. Fully Amsoil'd. Falken 453's, EVO 8 FQ320 rear diff.
The braking system has the capacity to work successfully with new or old brake pads. If you are bleeding the brakes, its best done with new pads all round and topped up to the max line. If you fill to max with worn pads, when they are replaced, the fluid level will be over max if pads are replaced (pistons wound back).
I had a look at the service manual on the forum but couldn't find the exact capacity. I suspect that 1 litre would be fine for a full bleed.

My first VR4 - '97 Legnum Dark Green & mean ...it was love at first sight - now sold
1 litre is certainly enough for a full bleed.
