I want to install a sunroof in a Galant without a sunroof.
So anyone got any pictures from the inside without the carpet/headliner?
I want to know if there are any rails or water channels I need to take into account.

The sun roof is a complete single item as far as I know mechanism wise. There would be a fair bit of metal work involved I would Imagine. You will probably have to install drip tubes that run down the inside of the A pillar. But cutting and forming the hole in the roof would probably be the biggest issue.
Personally I would cut the roof hole out of another car and fit that to you car, rather than trying to form all the folds and welding all the flanges in place. It would be much easier to weld in a preformed hole from another car. Then you are just welding relatively flat steel to relatively flat steel.
What size sunroof are you thinking of fitting, the sun roof or the moon roof size.
If you are going to all this trouble then I would go for the larger moon roof.
It will be a lot of hassle, why not buy a car with a moon roof already fitted.

Bye for Now!
Well, there are not to many rust free, manual, vr-4's with sunroofs.
Not even in Japan, so I got one without.
I am trying to see if I can fit the OEM sunroof. I know the Legnum sunroofs are a bit bigger but I am going for a saloon version
Ok Good luck.
take the headlining out and see what you have to play with.
take the sunroof unit out of a scrap car and then cut the sunroof hole out of the roof with extra roof you dont need make sure you get any alignment/strengthening rails so it is easy to line them up on your car.
Then cut out your roof to fit the salvage roof section and fit the sunroof unit.
make sure you get the sunroof switch electronic unit from the scrap car and wiring.
Yeah, point is, there not many scrap cars to find with a (complete) sunroof.
I found one way over in Germany. But want to know how much of the roof I need to cut out. So if anyone has some pictures from the inside with the headliner removed, I would appreciate.
Depends if I can drive by car or going to need a trailer.
to be honest i have never heard of anyone trying to fit a sunroof to a non sunroof car.
maybe @GalantOnly Alex can shed some light on the possibility of doing this as he has done some major structural work and rebuild on VR4's
This is a tricky one. Basically it will depend on how big your nads are, cos once you start cutting you're in. In a previous life I fitted many glass and steel tilt and slides. These were all after market which came with outer trim rings painted car colour or black (needed for strength due to lack of turned edges around the rim). In this case you will have to replace a section of roof (unless you can source an external trim ring) which will ultimately mean you cutting say, 100mm around the hole of the old sunroof and then fitting that section into your car. It's not impossible just be accurate, use lots of masking tape and centre lines for alignment you don't want it crooked. It will of course need filling and painting. It is doable! Hey @Davezj I am learning to waffle with the best of them. LOL.
Live, love, learn but most of all.... Plan.
you are a breakfast king, maple syrup anyone. lol.
