    Legnum overhaul

Hi all, been a while, thought I should crack on with the old legnum project.

My plan in short is as follows,

Remove front and rear subframe and suspension components to remove all bushes Sand blast and paint all suspension arms and refit with polybushes.

    Underseal underneath

Remove engine and gearbox due to oil weep from front head gasket.

    Remove cylinder heads

Remove valves decoke and regrinding valves and valve seats

    Gas flow cylinder heads

Rebuild with all.new seals and gaskets.

Make nessecary modifications to fit lpg kit.
(Just make it a little less.painful on the wallet for day to day running)

Repaint brembo calipers as looking a little bit tired.

Re bleed brakes with dot 5 fluid

    Replace.front exhaust flexible section

Replace plastic boost elbow with stainless one.

    Replace all fluids on vehicle.

    Aaannddd breathe. ...

All of the above I'm quite happy with but I have a few questions....

My nardi steering wheel is looking a bit tired so I would loke to replace it, can any one tell me what other stwering wheels will fit whist still retaining and o.e. type.look.

Also I have black leather seats but they have basically no bolsters and really don't hold you very well. What other seats fit? Don't mind a little bit of modifying.

Whilst I'm doing all of the above engine out work etc is there anything else i should be doino whilst im there?

    Many thanks in advance

    Cheers

    Matt (nutty1)

Looks like a nice project, good luck with it. If you need any information regarding lpg conversion ask here, I did convert about dozen vr4s so can give a bit advice if required.

Btw I will be seling more re leathered sterring wheels soon, mostly momo but may have one nardi too.

Are you doing the cam belt? I would change it and the water pump whilst the engine is out. Also do the idlers and tensioner.

Uprated lash adjusters if yours are at all noisy (assuming you don't already have them)

Will be checking the cambelt and water pump but was replaced about a year ago and has covered about 6k! And is already fitted with uprated lash adjusters! As started to sound like and old ford!

If you are going that far then I guess you will also remove the fuel tank? I have heard of a few cars now where the brake lines have failed due to corrosion and the fuel tank prevents visual checking.

hi guys, long while since ive posted, the poor ole legnum has been sat with no rear subframe since the summer! had some problems which have kept me from doing any work to it!

But now im back in the game and ready to get the project going again!

so far the rear subframe has been removed, stripped and various parts are now at the sandblasters! once the are back, will be treated to a nice coat of epoxy black paint.

next step will be to fit the polybushes.

does anyone know a good source for the rear subframe mounting bushes? my local dealer will get me parts but only if i can provide them the part number! (not the most helpful tbh)

will post up some pictures of the progress!

Nick Mann yes the tank will be being removed to try and find a fix for the erratic fuel gauge and i will be treating her to new brake pipes through out, as i recently had one burst on my daily drive (vectra c estate) not a nice experience! having only owned the car a year i decided to look back over the previous mots and it had a failure 3 years ago for front to rear brake pipes and the t**t the did them joined them just as they go over the tank and low and behold it burst above the tank!!

where safety is concerned the is no room for shortcuts!

    cheers guys
