HOW TO: Erase ABS fault code

    Hi all,

Recently, I have checked our workshop manual, chapter 35, brake section, and found there is a method to erase the ABS fault code. I followed the diagram described, but still cannot erase the ABS code. I have tried many times, and still couldn't erase the code. Finally, I found that there was an error from the diagram, and finally, I can erase the ABS code!!! Let me share this:

Before, you can see from the workshop manual about that diagram.

But actually, you have to start stepping on the brake pedal BEFORE ABS light off, therefore, you can see from below photo that I corrected.

As everyone knows, the ABS fault code cannot be erased by EvoScan nor removing the battery cable. So now, hope everyone can erase the ABS code by yourself.

    Thanks,
    KC

BTW, I can erase the ABS code by this corrected method. Can anyone of you also doing this to confirm this method?

That is an interesting bit of info I have not tried that method of resetting abs codes.

I was sure I could reset the ABS codes with evoscan.
You have to select the abs ecu on the main page first not by selecting the abs ecu in the bottom right menu. Then click the reset betton.

But I could be wrong it was a long time ago since resetting the abs codes.
I suppose I could test it by disconnecting one of the abs sensors to create an error then try erasing the codes via evoscan.

This would have been very useful to me last week, as I had a wheel sensor problem and couldn't work out how to reset the abs codes. I ended up using the ayc codes to work out it was the rear left.

I will try and remember to clear my abs codes using this method and report back.

I have tried Evoscan, and tried both ABS ECU and EFI ECU, but still couldn't erase the code. I use Openport 2.0 cable, not sure it matters or not.

I could be wrong, but I have definitely rest abs codes before.
And I can only ever remember using evoscan.
I will have to try it at some point.

Can be erased using Openport, it's just that Evoscan's implementation of DTCs is terrible.

I've written a custom app that uses the Openport or ftdi cable for better diagnosis and clearing codes, just haven't finalised it.
