    That should have read 'of'!

I did eventually visit my old chip shop as I posted on here somewhere?

Lovely lady owner.... She took over from her sister around 4 months ago.

It's not her or her sister fault that the shop has deteriorate to an everyday... Common... Poor quality take away.

It was my baby..... & I did shed a tear when I got home

My takings nearly 30 years ago were far more than they are now!! That's when fish and chips were £1.20!!! 60 sacks of spuds per week then compared to 15 now.

She has agreed to let me come in and change every thing!! From menu to decor. If she resists... I will just walk away

    I can't walk away.... . .. It's so close to my heart

what you have to remember is going out for fish and chips 30 years ago was like going out for dinner now, it was much more of an event and there was not a restaurant or cafe every 3rd shop on the high street so choice was limited.

well that is how look back on it.
but i am not saying that there is not a place for a really good fish and chip shop, and people don't mind paying a bit more
we were on holiday last week and had really good fish and chips in amble on the north east coast and was the best fish and chips i have had in long time. a large fish and chips was about £7 and it was take away, but when you can park up for free and sit on picnic tables round the corner overlooking the harbour in glorious sunshine it makes all the difference.

by the way when i say large fish and i am not talking batter i mean prime cod, 12" long, 5" wide and 1" thick. i could only just finish it and if you know me i like my food and i generally consume more than the average family, lol. very nice.

    Bye for Now!
