    AYC fault query

    Hi, looking for some help/advice.

We have looked at the fault code and 82 is coming up - electric pump or sensor.

How do I go about checking the sensor before going down the road of have pump refurbished or new pump.

Recently we had a tyre changed on our Legnum and the wrong size was fitted instead of r45 a r40 was fitted. This was noticed within the week and changed.

Since the wrong size was fitted the red AYC light was shown up.

    Is this just a coincidence?

Code 82 is basically low hydraulic pressure in the pump.

It could be that your switch has failed or more likely that your pump is tired.
Maybe the wrong sized tyre helped a tired pump get a little more tired or maybe the warmer days mean the thinner oil is showing the pump to bectired more often. Your best bet in any case is an adjustable switch from Malc (MPBVr4)

Make sure you specify which model you have pre facelift or facelift as the switchs are different,
one is nomally open and closes when pressure is achieved
one is normally closed and opens when pressure is achieved.

they have different colours on the end of them, one is black and one is green

sorry i don't remember which switch is for which model but malc will tell you.

Is that Dave's old car. He sold it in about 2011.
I only say this as I was going to buy it from him but he didn't know when he was going to sell it, and I could not wait to back into a vr4.
