    ARP Head Studs

I am hoping to spend some time over the next couple of days looking for a discount on a bulk order of ARP studs that will fit the 6A13TT. A few people have been seeing head lift or potential head lift and I think the symptoms might be starting with mine. I intend to fit ARP studs in a few weeks time to see if I can solve the issue. Either way, my boost is not going to be turned down, and my state of tune is only ever going to go up.

At the moment £170ish gets a pack of ten studs, we need 16. I figured if we can get three interested parties then we can split 5 sets, saving around £55 each even without a group buy discount. (2 sets is £340, 5 sets split 3 ways is £285)

    Prices and Interest:

At the moment, it would be around £340 if you bought two boxes as an individual.
If we just bought five boxes between three of us it would be £850 for the five boxes and then split three ways is £284.
I can now get five boxes delivered to me for £775 which would be £259 for a set. There may be a possibility of a small further reduction if we can get to five of us (eight boxes). In any case for five people it would be a maximum of £248 per set, maybe less.
Also Peter Thomson has mentioned he has four spare studs, which may open up the option of a group buy for four.

    So,
    1 person = £340
    3 people = £259
    4 people = ?
    5 people = £248

Okay chaps, I'm starting to get prices.

At the moment, it would be around £340 if you bought two boxes as an individual.
Obviously, if we just bought five boxes between three of us it would be £850 for the five boxes and then split three ways is £284.

Does that make any of you more interested? Like I say, I think I can guarantee two of us so far, so one more would mean we can get the £259 price. Three more for the £248 or maybe a little better.

Aye, you were the second I had alluded to in my first post.

Yes, The kit is a box of ten studs, ten 12 point nuts and ten washers. I am relatively sure it also comes with the ARP assembly lube. If anyone wants to look up details or check pricing, the kit is actually for the 3S-GTE, and is ARP 203-4204. They have been previously talked about on the forums, here is an example.

Storming! Thats three of us. Two more for five? If we only get one more it won't work, so if you are the 4th then you will only take part if we get to 5. Sorry!

    Top man sir!

That could mean a fourth person in is a goer, as we could buy 6 sets, plus your four. That's 64 bolts, for a total of four sets.

I should also ask you about your experience fitting them. I haven't checked if the studs hit the water jacket or not, how you found swapping and torquing, whether you did a full head job or swapped on the fly etc.

I can confirm the JDM engines to not screw into the water jacket at all so no need to seal the studs at the block interface.

As the interest is not so high I am tempted to say that we should close the group buy on Monday to let people notice this thread over the weekend. If you are interested and want a few more days to work it out then please post up!

I fitted them after head gasket failure. Heads were removed complete with turbos still attached. No problem torqing the heads down as per instructions. Front and rear roll stoppers were disconnected to allow easier removal of the heads as far as I remember as its been over 5 years since I fitted them. I fitted a pair of lower mileage heads after reseating the valves along with a good set of lifters.

With thanks to Peter Thomson and Tuning Developments, we have a total of 64 studs waiting to be paid for for the four of us, at a bargain price of £240 a set. Thank you to all involved!
